The eldest child of Fire Lord Juzho, Gozen sits on an uneasy throne. Her pro-industrial policies have alienated many of the more spiritual and traditional citizens of her nation. The leaked information that Gozen herself is a nonbender has proved the final straw. Claiming that so material and so spiritual detached an individual cannot be the Fire Lord, the Fire Sages have demanded Gozen's abdication. Worse yet, they have crowned Gozen's brother Zaiso as the rightful Fire Lord. As troops defect en masse, Gozen turns to the oligarchs of the capital to support her war to maintain the throne.
