APCR-10 Battle Rifle (All Purpose Combat Rifle)

The APCR-10 is formerly the standard issue rifle of the Saurian Army, and even though newer rifles have been designed to take its place, it and it’s variants still remain in service with the Saurian military, mainly with the reserves.   Caliber: 11.5x60mm SSA/7.5x26 SSA   Effective Range: 1,100 meters (1,203 yards)/750 meters (820 yards)   Fire Rate: 850/1,000 RPM   Fire Modes: Semi/full x2   Magazine Capacity: 30/48

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Both the primary and secondary fire systems of the weapon can be fire individually or in unison, the safeties for each fire control group, when active, allowing the corresponding trigger to be depressed without incurring a discharge of the weapon. This allows for a firmer grip when use of one of the fire systems is not needed. The primary firing mechanism of the rifle functions through a direct inpengement gas system, with the secondary operating by direct blowback. Both triggers of the rifle feature trigger safeties, as well as a switch for each fire control group that toggles between safe, semi automatic, and fully automatic. The magazine realease for the primary ammunition is located just to the front of the magazine well, with the secondary realease above the grip to be operated by thumb. All safeties and releases can be ambidextrously controlled. Ambidextrous charging handles are both located on the sides of the rifle, one above the other just as with the dual barrels along with ejection ports. Internally, the primary bolt of the weapon has a cutout in its center down the majority of its length to allow it to operate around the secondary magazine, which has its well going through it. Buffer springs are aligned above each other in seperate buffertubes in the stock. The primary trigger functions typically, with the second connected to its fire control group via thin yet strong cables that run up the internal sides to just below where the secondary bolt is located. A cleaning kit is screwed into the rifle's body with an adjustable rod that can be used in both barrels just below the primary barrel. Additionally, a manual casing extractor assist is positioned front and up of the primary magazine well in the event that a malfunction occurs. There is also a tool screwed into the grip of the gun right behind the secondary magazine that can serve many general purposes, including screwing on any standard Saurian Army attachments or screws to disassemble the weapon. Last, a long life battery is stored in the top of the stock which rests above the buffer tube and supplies power to any attachments put on the weapon's rails through magnetic energy transfer strips running the length of the rifle.   Magazines: The primary magazine is designed to go from a quad stack of cartridges to double stack as the mag feeds into the rifle. This is accomplished through multiple springs with higher tension to feed rounds from the sides of the magazine into the action of the gun first. The secondary magazine is the fairly standard double stack design with a cutaway to reveal how many rounds remain within upon ejection.
The standard issue APCR-10 is usually configured close to what is displayed above. They feature an advanced sight of some kind, usually capable of thermal and night vision, extended barrels shroud, a fore-grip with inbuilt knife, flashlight, and laser, an adjustable sling affixed just behind the flash hiders, and a tracer device in between the two muzzles that is triggered the second a round is fire, activating a small laser for a split second that etched a glowing line on the bullet as it passes. This creates a tracer effect and allows clear sight of the path of the bullet. The device functions for both primary and secondary fire groups and can be toggled on and off via a switch on its side.
