Kiaza Eel Generators ((Electric Swarm Eel Generators) (ESEG))
Utility
The generators consist of one or more cylindrical glass vats of water with a metal structure built through the center. Usually around 10-12 feet tall with a diameter of 6–9 feet, these vats are then populated with Kiaza Eels, which generate large amounts of electricity when hunting their prey. To trigger this response, certain pheromones along with the scent of blood are released into the water, sending the eels into a hunting frenzy and allowing the resulting electrical charge to be collected by encircling receptors.
To keep the eels alive, food is regularly dropped into the tank and pheromones are also released into the water the cause the eels to breed and create more of their kind to sustain the longevity of these generators. Dead eels and excreted waste are absorbed by machines at the bottom of the tank and converted back into food for the eels, prolonging the collective lifespan even more.
Manufacturing
Electricity created by these generators is typically used to power things aboard ships or buildings such as auxiliary lighting, backup life support, HVAC, and other things that don’t require massive amounts of energy such as a ship’s thrusters or the like.
Access & Availability
These generators are quite common aboard Atalanti Republic vessels to power auxiliary or other relatively low power systems and operations.
