Tarokudon (T-arr-oh-koo-don)
Basic Information
Anatomy
Tarokudons are massive fish that originate in the deep oceans of Atalan. They have two small side fines for steering through water as well as a much larger and longer central dorsal fin that runs most of the way down their long bodies ending in two final large fins at the end of their tail which they use for propulsion. Two large eyes in either side of their head allow for the perception of even slight motion at great distances while not allowing a very good view of detail or general color. Behind these eyes are their nasal glands, often mistaken for ears, which can detect faint hints of blood in water from miles away. Their ears a located at the front of the heads, 2 holes on each side allowed for a very good sense of where sounds are coming from in an almost 3D visual perception sense. Thick, colorful scales protect their organs from harm while their massive jagged teeth, one protruding out past the others located every few teeth, serving to brutally shred their prey. Lastly, Tarokudons’ heads are tipped with an hooked, almost beak-like bone growth that serves to latch into prey or challenger, followed by violent thrashing motions that rip out any meat or organs the biological hook and sunk into.
Genetics and Reproduction
These brutal creatures have been known to often kill and eat their mates after breeding, the male and female battling until the victor is left to consume the spoils. Even if the female is killed, interestingly, the babies will still continue to grow and eventually be born alive and fully developed, though far smaller than an adult of the species.
Ecology and Habitats
These fish monsters live exclusively in saltwater environments and require vast amounts of space to hunt in.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Tarokudons will hunt and eat almost any living thing that dares to enter their territory, even attacking ships or buildings and structures to get at the meaty people hiding within. Scarily, they have even been observed doing this occasionally for sport.
Additional Information
Geographic Origin and Distribution
These creatures originated on Atalan and some were transported to Aitalyn during the War For Atalan to help combat Walren forces. Additionally, sone were taken to Isotakasa in the hopes of taking care of the surprisingly even more dangerous Myrthalla population plaguing the industry there.
