Voyd (V-oi-d)

Ever since unknown radiation from the Voyds’ dying star changed their genetic composition, their entire race of former humans now interacts with light in a strange way. They now appear as just a black, shadowy, featureless, silhouetted version of their former selves as their skin has mutated to absorb nearly 100 percent of the light that it makes contact with. Interestingly, their skin has the strange property of protecting against most kinds of radiation, nuclear, solar, or otherwise. They even seem to absorb nutrients from sunlight and radiation instead of food. Other than their appearance and residence to radiation, they function much as a normal human, aside from their feeding habits.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Voyds have 2 arms and 2 legs and are nearly physiologically identical to Humans, aside from their digestive system and, of course, their skin. This race has evolved to absorb radiation and sunlight instead of consuming traditional food as a byproduct of their toxic star killing their natural crops as well as emitting the mutating rays. Even after the star has turned black hole, it still emits radiation consumable by the Voyd biology. Because of this, their formerly human digestive tracts have slowly shrunken and eventually disappeared almost entirely as they are now rendered near useless, while some superfluous organs still remain as a byproduct as well as the race’s need to still verbally communicate via a throat and mouth. In addition, Voyd skin is pure black as it absorbs nearly all sunlight that it comes into contact with, resulting in each individual being distinguishable by only their silhouette with no discernible visual features discernible aside from their outline.

Voyds emit small amounts of radiation at all times, making them slightly dangerous if exposed to other susceptible races for long enough. Saurian scales protect them completely from these effects.
