Atomic Weapon were discovered by Amethyst Westrel during her time as empress of the Dominus Empire (at that time it was known as the Westrel Empire). It is unclear how Amethyst Westrel gained the knowledge of atom splitting, but it is assumed she gained access to a Sedashan Bard and used them to travel to Earth where the secrets were discovered. These weapons were used on the Kruu Horde before the Kruu Civil War . They were also used against the Leviathan and the Dread Navy which was blockading the ports of Hestmire.
