Dragonborn
Amongst the Draconics of southern Alus, the Dragonborn appear to be the most normal. However, that averageness shouldn't allow us to underestimate them. They are one of the dominant species in the south, mainly staying to the Ziminsi League. Each dragonborn is fiercely independent, which explains why the Draxeeli Loyalists butt heads with them. Which is why it is so infuriating that they still cling to their false faith. To the so-called Dragon Gods. Hopefully, they can be brought to the light and taught of their true divinity.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Just as the Dragon species does, Dragonborn vary in ancestry and nature. Amongst all of them is the innate ability to use a breathe weapon with some having more than one type. Their elemental breath is based off their ancestry, specifically focusing on the type of dragon in that ancestry. However, not all of the Dragonborn get access to breath weapons. This is usually dragonborn related to Elders but a few were able to have mastery of elemental breath attacks.
Anatomy wise, the Dragonborn share the bipedal nature of most Avestran species. Unlike what popular belief has spread in Avestra, most Dragonborn do not have tails. However, there is a subset of the population where this has grown increasingly untrue. The reason being anywhere from intermixing with Draxeeli to experimentation by Dragons that are sent back into the local populace. Whatever the case, some Dragonborn are known to have tails.
Genetics and Reproduction
Dragonborn who reproduce with each other have children through eggs. In fact, sometimes it is common to steal eggs from other clans or families to ransom them or take the child as their own. This is also the case with Dragonborn-Draxeelirelationships. However, Fera and other non-draconics produce non-egg based children. This is where some claims of how Dragon Fera came to be originated. A strange thing to note is that Dragonborn and Dragons can have children together and they are egg based but the child is noticeably still a Half-Dragon, as if to say that even Dragonborn are not not full-blooded enough to produce pure dragon children.
Growth Rate & Stages
Dragonborn have some of the fastest maturation in Avestra, second only to the Aarakocra. By age 3, they already appear to be 10 year old children. By 15, they appear to be fully mature adults. However, they do live up to 80 years, looking like young adults to normal adults for the majority of their lifespan.
Additional Information
Geographic Origin and Distribution
The majority of Dragonborn live in southern Alus but while some do live in the kingdom of Bra'Lakun, the majority stay in the Ziminsi League. A sizeable chunk have started sailing south to see the Brandovian lands but whether or not that is a good thing has yet to be seen.

History
Dragonborn were supposedly created as an experiment by the Dragon Empires of ancient Avestran history. This is claimed by Dragons that attempt to be cruel to their "lesser" brethren. But whatever the case, the Dragonborn developed alongside the Draxeeli and Dragon Fera who were all part of the Dragon empires at some point. As society rebuilt from the fall of the ancient empires, the Dragonborn developed to be more independent, having less of a connection to the Dragons than the Draxeeli.
Due to their location, the Dragonborn had to deal with interactions both the mountainfolk such as Dwarves and Goblins and the people of what would become Ten'nō no umi or the Emperor's Sea. As a result, Dragonborn never really had a culture of their own. They were influenced by the people around them and the Dragons that resided in their lands. However, this influence pushed them to make sure that they were masters of their own fate, rebuking invaders and pushing to not be as fiercely loyal to the Dragons as the Draxeeli. This was assuredly the case after the Elder Invasion.
Many Dragonborn became disillusioned with the power of the Dragons, even as said species was invigorated by the conflict. The arrival of the Eternals and the death of many Draconics made the Dragonborn realize they owned no loyalty to the Dragons. This caused a rift to form between them and the Draxeeliand a bloody civil war was fought that led to the creation of the Ziminsi League. They formed a home where they would choose their own leaders and live their own lives by merit instead of by the will of a master they did not recognize. And while that might be a noble ideal, it leaves them as the odd man out in the political sphere.
Things only got worse as Dragonborn of the Ziminsi League find themselves beset on two sides. The Otsu Shogunate would like nothing more than to consume the region, pushing their borders to the southern shores and add their powers to their ranks. At the same time, the Brandovian Empire has started an invasion into Alus, hoping to wipe the "false worship" of gods out form all corners of Avestra. Add to that rumors that the Elder Dragons are beginning to stir once more and it is clear to see that the Dragonborn's independence and unity will be put to the test and many regional powers watch with interest to see what happens. As do enigmatic figures that reside in their land.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
The Dragon Fera and Dragonborn are known to have amicable relationships with each other. Those loyal to the Dragons will sometimes be tense with the fiercely independent ones but the two are more often than not able to have a friendly conversation. The Draxeeli and Dragonborn are another story. Their relationship has always been tense since Dragons spread the idea that Dragonborn were an unwanted mutation of the true Draxeeli. Things only got worse during the Draconic Civil War that split the southern Draconic lands in two. Now, it seems like the two will never be able to come to term with each other... even with the threat of the Brandovian and Haiakage Empires on the horizon.
Dragonborn and Dragon relations get worse and worse as the ages go on. Now that the Dragons want to regain control of their "creations", they want to cement their influence on the Dragonborn. However, the Dragonborn will never allow this to happen and this could cause a surge of Dragonborn to become Dragon Hunters. In fact, there are rumors that they have begun traveling to the Shogunates to learn more about their Dragon-killing ways. Just in case such a conflict ever happens.
