Gnomes
Gnomes are a short race not well known for their physical aptitude but their mental aptitude. Alongside the Tykriels and Dwarves, they forged the Underoads and the Empires that ruled them. Major innovations in the east can be linked to the ideas they've come up with. While they may be small, they absolutely describe the phrase: Small men can cast large shadows. With an excitement to learn as much as they can and long lives to help with those studies, Gnomes seem like one of the races that will be on the forefront of innovation for centuries to come.

Average Intelligence
A notable trait for the Gnomes is their above average intelligence shared only by a few other races. It was this trait that helped them to forge the Underoad Empires alongside the Tykriels and Dwarves.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Gnomes have the darkvision trait common between the mountain born and depth exploring species of Avestra. Deep Gnomes who have grown up in the darkness of the Underoads have an enhanced version of this that lets them see even farther.

Major Organizations
- The Orzin Holds: The Gnomes are one of the few species able to live comfortably in the Orzin holds of Edrinia's spine where intelligence decides your status, not your blood. Along with the Tykriels, they serve as the majority of the people in the upper echelons of the nation.
History
The Gnomes developed faster than normal species at first thanks to their above average intelligence. When groups of them met with the Tykriels and the Dwarves, their unity would shake the foundations of history as they formed the Underoads. Their ingenuity combined with the Dwarven craft for stonecarving allowed them to form the network of passages and caverns that would serve as a home for the Under Empires. The Gnomes learned much about the world, magic, and technology, but all that knowledge was lost when the Under Empires mysteriously fell.
Thus, the Gnomes were fractured and scattered across Avestra. The ones who tried to make a life in the mountains and what was left of the Underoad became the Rock and Deep Gnomes while those who renounced the lives they lived went to live amongst the other races in the plains and other environments as Forest Gnomes. Through the ages, people relied on Gnomes for their intelligence and once again the ego they developed during the Under Empires began to form again. Another blow to it came when the Elders came but with the coming of the Eternal Age and the Eternals, led to a reawakening of the Underoads.
Creatures began to come out of the depths of Avestra, with no memory of the time before but bound to serve prominent and even forgotten families across the land. These Warforged and Simic Hybrid revealed to the Gnomes that they were once great innovators. And now they are pushed to once again push the boundaries of what they know to answer the unanswerable questions and to rise to the status they once had long before.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Gnomes and Tykriels are often seen as an unseparable pair due to the fact they can understand each other's ramblings and thought processes. Some say that Gnomes are Tykriels who were able to understand emotion. But whatever the case, wherever a Gnome settlement is, there's probably a noticeable number of Tykriels there as well.
Gnomes and Kobolds do not get along well in Orzin lands as many Gnomes think that kobolds aren't intelligent enough to join the upper echelons of the Orzin ranks. However this has started to change due to the actions of a kobold adventurer who returned from the Aerin Valley to make sure his people are treated equally in the Orzin lands.
