Eternals
Considered by some to be gods, the Eternals claim to be the first inhabitants of what would become Avestra. They hail from the mysterious world of Aeternum and are officially led by Ano and Eno, two of the strongest of their species. Millions of years ago, they and their home vanished, supposedly after creating the foundations of the planes and Avestra. It was only during the X'ith'ila's invasion they returned and fought back against the aberrant threat.
Yet the last time the Eternals made a major show was during that threat at the beginning of the age. Now they are wanderers, appearing across the land for their own purposes. Some are cryptic in their answers while others are forthcoming in certain aspects. What remains the same amongst all the Eternals is this: they are here to stay. And the true nature of them or their world remains a mystery.
Basic Information
Anatomy
All Eternals in their natural state appear as a walking set of cloak, gloves, and boots with a no face except glowing eyes shown under their hoods. Each color is unique to an Eternal but they may include colors of factions they've thrown in with or people they are close to.
Behaviour
Eternals portray a curiousity of the world, at least the ones who chose to leave their home to explore the other realms. Many blend in amongst the local populace, plying trades, wandering as adventurers, or simply existing as their true selves depending on the person. A rare few snear at the "lower" species as they sometimes say but those that do are often Aeternum natives who do not wish to leave their world except for rare moments.
Additional Information
Average Intelligence
All Eternals display an above average intelligence that far exceeds even the smartest minds of the age in the fields they focus on. they take on information faster as well but some have been known to have poor memories for unknown reasons.
Civilization and Culture
History
Amongst the Eternals, there is a common origin for their race. Supposedly, there were at first two beings: Anu and Enu. Some say they were the last survivors of a dying world and fled the destruction. Destruction and Creation respectively, the two created a new world filled with life for eternity: Aeternum. So they wouldn't be alone, Enu also created the Eternal race. However, Enu expended too much of their power and began to fade. And so they created as many of the Eternals as they could before making one final gift: Eno, their reincarnation.
Anu even began to fade away soon after and created their own reincarnation: Ano. The two "brothers" were perfect leaders for Aeternum as many Eternals say but at some point, they looked beyond their own world. Stories say the two looked up at the night sky, which was lit with no stars and inspiration struck them.
The two Eternals went to work, creating hundreds of celestial objects that served as foundations for future realms. Their experience grew and they finished off this spree of worldbuilding by making one final world: The Crown Jewel, Avestra. However, the brothers nor the Eternals themselves were able to see the fruits of their labor. Ano and Eno began to feud, for reasons that no one except the brothers truly know. That feud turned to open combat, causing the Eternal Civil War.
While the Eternals were destructive in battle, Ano and Eno's clash shook the foundations of reality. Many Eternals believed that this was the end of reality as they knew it. It was at the most critical moment that Aeternum, Eternals and all, vanished from the cosmos. Some Eternals say this disappearance was only for an instance, others say it lasted for millions of years.
What is known is that the Eternals wouldn't be seen again until the end of the Ancient Age when Avestra and the other planes were being attacked by the Elders and their aberrant allies. In the first year of the Eternal Age, Aeternum appeared in the sky of Avestra. And when Aeternum returned, so did the Eternals. Ano and Eno saw these beings devastating their creations and with Eternalkind united behind them, they pushed back the Elders and smashed their invasion.
After the end of the invasion, Ano disappeared, his followers claiming he wanders Avestra to see what was damaged while his critics say he is sowing discourse to claim Avestra as his own. Eno disappeared as well but there are been many sightings of him trying to aid people across Avestra. The rest of the Eternals were split: some went to Avestra to see this new land for themselves and the races that developed that they were gone. Others stayed on Aeternum to rebuild their home and continue their lives as normal. However, nothing would ever be normal again as they had entered into a world that wasn't unlike anything they experienced before.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Some Eternals are fascinated by these races that were born on the realms they created. They go out of their way to mingle with the other races, taking their forms and living amongst them without being noticed. Some may have even become romantically or platonically involved, having children or gifting their bloodline to families. This is the currently theory for the Eternal lineage that has popped up across Avestra such as the Descendants of Ano. There are even those who adopt orphans of the mortal races, raising them as Children of Eternity.
Other Eternals view the mortal races with disgust, as if they sully the perfection their leaders made. They stay on their own land of Aeternum and do their best not to visit the other realms. When they do, they treat the "lesser" races with disdain and some have been outwardly violent. There are stories that Ano himself wanders the world to cause mayhem because of his hatred of the lesser races. Whether that is true or not has yet to be seen.
