Theories on the Lost Če'arem

The Če'arem is a set of twelve scrolls that study the blood magic of the Đakrsinja and Krsiljudi. Believed to be held in Tsui'Am temple, now Tsui'am courthouse, it is thought to have disappeared sometime between the Blood Scourge War and the Krsiljudi genocide. The scrolls are constantly being searched for as they are considered highly dangerous, containing in-depth knowledge of blood magic, one of the forbidden magics. There are many theories concerning their disappearance and where they are now.

Twelve Pillars

One theory states that the twelve scrolls were sealed into the twelve columns of the main courtroom, then the prayer room, of Tsui'am courthouse. Though this rumor has gained some traction, the Kingdom of Rhedya has refused to tear down the pillars as the building is of cultural significance despite having destroyed many of its stained glass windows and other effects after taking it over. Others discredit this theory due to rumors of the scrolls having been seen by Rhedyan soldiers occupying the building during the war.

Destroyed

Some believe that the Rhedyan army destroyed the scrolls. After the Blood Scourge War, Rhedya destroyed any religious imagery and artifacts in Tsui'Am temple. If they were indeed destroyed during this purge, why then did Rhedya not confirm their destruction and lay their mystery to rest?

Locked Away

Similarly, this theory states that the scrolls have already been found and locked away. People who believe this theory argue that if Rhedya had found the Če'arem, they would be foolish to admit it an attract those with bad intent. Instead, they would have locked it away with other forbidden texts and let the mystery go on with none the wiser.

Krsiljudi Survivors

The Krsiljdi are believed to be extinct after their genocide, however, there is no way to confirm this. Some people believe that a Krsiljudi managed to extract the scrolls during the occupation of Tsui'Am temple. Others believe that it was removed before the Blood Scourge War and hidden away or that it is being held by a Krsiljudi who has managed to reenter society as they are not too biologically different from Čoljudi.

Stolen

The worst-case scenario is that the artifact was stolen. Perhaps by some academics who couldn't help themselves but more likely by someone with bad intentions. Whether it be a criminal organization or someone planning a massacre, many like to believe that the knowledge of blood magic now lies in the hands of those most likely to use it.

Many theories exist about the disappearance of the Če'arem, yet it remains a mystery. There have been many false leads over the years and many more investigations but no trace of the lost artifact. Gradually, the issue has faded from the public view with only a few still watching and listening for any news. World governments, however, continue their search, afraid of what will happen should it fall into the wrong hands.
