Character Ideas

Each answer will give your charater a bonus in starting CP of 1 to 3 points.
  • Describe two people that inspired you as a child, to be more than your current situation would allow.
  • What god did your parents follow and how do they venerate this god?
  • When your parents took you to church with them, what was it like for you?
  • There are no alignments. This is a good campaign. See this description of Personality Profiles.
  • Knowing that as an adventurer, you have a a 70% fatality rate, why does your character want to adventure? The reason needs to be personal.
  • What is your character conflicted about? What keeps them up at night?
  • Does your family struggle to meet its needs?
  • What change are you afraid to make in your life or what truth about yourself or your world does your character fear?
  • What flaw does your character have that they hate because it is always a problem?
  • When a bad event happened to you, who helped you with it? What advice did they give you?
  • Ask your character: Where did you, a poor peasant, get the money and equipment you will start the game with? Then why did that come to you?
  • Include family info as well, why you are not an apprentice for you dad, why your mom is letting you adventure etc. Remember the pressure your parents put on you to "be something" when you grew up? This might be akin to saying, "Mom, dad, I have no experience and I am joining a rock band."
  • Upload Picture of your character in WA.
  • When this is done, I will read it back and may answer back, most likely with a few questions, for clarity and the CP rewarded to you for the background.

    Items to spark some Ideas

  • What did your parents/guardians try to teach you? Did you learn or reject it?
  • What did you swear you would never do, that they did?
  • Who did you look up to and why?
  • Who do you hate and why?
  • What did you love to do as a child?
  • How do you unwind and or blow off steam?
  • What is your character's greatest fear? Nothing is not an acceptable answer. Make it something real to your character.
  • How does your character think justice in the world should be doled out? Redemption, rehabilitation or the hangman's noose? Remember you have a medivial upbringing with no one telling you how subjective these things are.
  • Some helpful hints

  • If you like long campaigns with thick plots but you don’t like to take notes you are setting yourself up for failure!
  • If you have a poor memory, either take good notes or play a forgetful character, (I.E. low intelligence).
  • If you don’t want to figure out plots then you want a hack and slash game, think about it.
  • If you don’t like interacting with NPCs, then you should not be playing an RPG. Part of your 'role' is for you to act in character with NPCs, even if poorly.
  • This is a cooperative role-playing experience; loner characters are very highly discouraged.
  • A fascinating fact, my evil campaigns are a lot better at teamwork then my good campaigns.
  • You are rewarded for all content created by you. Inns, your npc famliy, NPCs in your background. Your wife and kids, siblings. Important places that you always liked, hated, or feared. Just to name a few.
