Amethyst Sky

Tabaxi Aberrant Mind Sorcerer (She/Her), Age 28   Birthday: 24 Fireseek   Amethyst arrived in Craven's Rest in the company of Eldon and Lucas. She spends a lot of her time looking around the town and occasionally muttering to herself or speaking out loud. She has an impulsive, chaotic nature.   She has met and struck up a friendship with Ellia Fairwood who seems to be telepathic and has had visions similar to Amethyst. In fact, they have seen visions of each other throughout their lives along with a number of other individuals scattered across the land. This friendship has deepened to something more.   In Port Oruss, she met another person that shares her visions, Gieldor Von Mahstaff who paints the visions he sees, including the moment that Ellia and Amethyst shared their first kiss. She also confirmed that there are two others that they are connected to, including someone from Gez'rek named "Wraith".   At the Mystic Menagerie, she purchased a small Faerie house which included a set of four pixie dolls. The dolls, which turned out to be actual pixies were returned to their queen and Amethyst received a token and a bow in return.   Recently, she met with Addie and learned about the phenomenon known as Shattered Souls. While camping en route to the Slaad lair, she had a dream of a battle against a demonic horde and being struck down by a massive demon. At the site where she fell in the dream, she found a black shard of metal. The spirit of Invarnak told her that her vision was the battle where Nolan Geyrvohn, Crown Prince of Oruss, was killed and could not be revived.   Amethyst has learned more about the connection she shares with the others. First, their abilities vary. Gieldor can only see through the other's eyes and get a bit of their emotional state. He has used this as a source of inspiration for his art. Keevah can hear and carry on conversations with the others. Ellia and Amethyst can see and hear in their visions and communicate telepathically, especially with each other. Wraith has no ability to connect but has been able to sense when others are spying and can push them away.   During the hunt and defeat of Wraith, Amethyst was able to spend time with Keevah. Now she is showing interest in finding the other fragments from other clusters.

Amethyst's Dream:   I found myself floating in darkness. I felt a pleasant warmth, kind of like floating in water, the sensation of being carried along in liquid; buoyant. I see in the distance, little motes of light. I am drifting towards them, towards one, but as I get closer I realise they are five tiny lights, which, as I get even closer, become candles of five different colours. Right in front of me, in the centre of the five, a bright purple candle. I feel a connection with it. The candle is me, or represents me. Next to my candle, on the right, a leafy green candle. Ellia. Her flame often flickering in sync with mine, occasionally drifting into its own pattern, but regularly in sync with my own flame. Our connection. To the left side of mine, a blue candle, the exact same vivid blue colour as eyes I now remember. Gieldor. His flame flares the same height as mine, but never matches or syncs with it. His flame can also match the same height as the other candles, in the same way it does with mine. He sees but cannot hear or reach out to any of us. To the right of Ellia's candle, a bright orange coloured candle. The red haired lady. Her flame dims and grows, sometimes flickers in time with the others. The last flame, pure white. Wraith. I'm shocked by the white colour momentarily. His candle is completely still. It never wavers or flickers, doesn't change in size or height, just remains completely still. I notice a silver, metallic ring that forms around the base of his candle. Tendrils of black begin creeping their way up the length of the candle, wrapping around it, until it reaches the top. The white flame turns black. Still does not waver or flicker. It remains completely still, but is now very dark black. I look again at my own candle. Occasionally, a small flicker of a spark pops up and dances around my flame. Looking out into the darkness, I notice other tiny motes of light. No colours or details, but they are definitely out there. I see one fairly bright light off to the right of Ellia's candle - is this Addie? Another candle, more distant, off to the left. Vague flames out in the darkness. All is quiet and peaceful. I wake up.   Amethyst's Vision:   I wake in an unfamiliar place. This isn't where I went to sleep. I am looking up at a plank wooden ceiling, a greyish light from the window. Mist appears. I hear the sound of breathing, in time with the puff of mist. I try to move but I can't, can't even turn my head. I manage to stay calm not panic, but this is not pleasant. I realise this is not me, this is a vision. My point of view changes - whoever I am seeing sits up in bed. I look around. The room is sparse, with plank walls, weathered wood. A window off to the side, caked with dust, threadbare curtains. Greyish, early-morning light. I hear strange sounds coming from beyond this room - some voices, some footsteps. The person stands up, stiffly, and looks down at their hands - long, thin fingers, pale skin. They step over to a chair, pick up a long, black coat and settle it over his shoulders. Wraith. I feel him now. As I think of his name, he looks down again at his hands. A black shadow moves over his hands, elongates, and begins to form a long, silvery blade. He takes the hilt, and moves it over his shoulder, where it settles on his back. I hear a low growl as he moves over to the door. He goes to push open the door, but pauses briefly, another growl, or maybe a grunt. He pushes open the door, and the sunlight hits my vision. I look and find I am in a small village of some kind. Lots of ramshackle buildings to the front and the right side, water to the left. He steps through the open door, and I feel him shake his head. I look to the left at the water, and see small fishing vessels and a large ship, bobbing in the water, with people working on it. I smell something. The faint smell of rotten eggs. Maybe sulphur? The smell makes me wince. Then I hear the voice, "GET OUT!" and I am forced out, back to myself again. I wake up in the inn, where I went to sleep, next to Sora who is still sleeping. I am shaken.   It dawns on me afterwards: Wraith's flame never moves. It is completely still. All the other flames can match one anothers, even occasionally match his, but his flame never matches theirs. Does this mean he cannot see or feel us, even though we can see and feel him? I hope so. I wonder what the others will make of this.

Chatting with Mavelle & Perrin afterwards: Mavelle is interested in the imagery of your dream as she has experienced something similar. She has visions of each one connected as a book and sometimes the pages and their contents match. She doesn't see through her companions eyes, but can communicate with them in a way similar to Sending. She can also send and receive images but only with those willing. Perrin uses a technique to block any form of communication from the others, but cannot initiate anything though can receive. Both of them think that Wraith is similar but his efforts are much more violent. Mavelle ponders and says, "It sounds like he's a Warlock who made a pact with something dark and shadowy. Titus is..." She trails off a moment. "Was a warlock as well but devoted to a celestial being. Wraith may have made a pact to help shut out the connections he couldn't control."     Going back to speak to Mavelle & Perrin the next day: Mavelle speaks first, "Based on your abilities and the magic in you, I believe you may be able to resist any unwanted connections. I don't think we have time to teach you but I don't know that we will have to." She motions to Perrin.   Perrin speaks softly, "If you focus, you should be able to sense any connections as they are made. Picture the candles from your dream. When they are in sync, your senses are linked. Though you cannot affect the other flames, you can adjust your own. Dim the flame. Blow on the flame to make it flicker. That will sever the connection." Mavelle nods and adds, "I believe the spark dancing around your flame in the vision is the dagger you hold, and it can warn you of danger. It may be able to warn you of an unwanted connection." You even feel a small pulse of warmth from the shard.     Speaking to Professor Martinette Prepsel: So talking with Prof Martinette, you'll learn that she has the spell Recall Memory that lets you "replay" something you've experienced. If you allow it, she can review it with you. Since you're not holding anything back, I assume that's okay. She confirms the assessment of Mavelle and Perrin, but she has some additional insight: "Based on the imagery of your dream, I don't think Wraith can actually make a connection. His flame is inert and unresponsive. However, he seems to be able to sense when someone is 'spying' on him. I can only imagine the feelings of paranoia and unease that would cause a person." "Looking at what happened to his candle, the shadow is an exterior presence. It crept up the candle and changed the flame from white to black. My theory is that Wraith may be a warlock who made a pact with some dark entity. There is also one last thing to note that happened right at the end of your dream. Your candle stilled and matched the size of Wraiths, indicating a connection being made but when it did, your flame also turned almost completely black." "From what you described of your vision upon waking up, you were connected to Wraith very deeply, able to not just see and hear, but touch and smell as well. Your ability is very strong"   After asking Gieldor and "Red" (aka Keeva) if they experienced anything similar: Gieldor's Reply: No dreams or strange smells. Did have a vision not long ago: a fishing village, merchant ship at docks being repaired. Feelings of eagerness, satisfaction, anger.   "Red"s reply in an accent similar to Trevor or Nils and his family. "Cat Girl! Good to hear from you. My name? It's Keeva. Hold on a moment..." The connection cuts off and you "feel" a soft rush of air before hearing the voice in your mind, speaking flawless Tabaxi. "Amethyst, isn't it? Dreams you ask? I have those all of the time, but nothing strange or unusual. No smells either. What's going on?" You realize she is also talking much more than a Sending would allow. She chuckles (a strange sound in your head) "Just speak out loud, I'll hear it. No need to use spells, I can't see you but I can hear. I get little flickers of sight occasionally but the sounds are clear. It's how I learned your language."   After telling her about Wraith: "Oh... Rellith? Is that broody little boy causing trouble? He did figure out a way to block me out. I can't really eavesdrop on him anymore." "I'm in the south checking out some problems with the giants. Something has got them all riled up and my friends here are having trouble." "Yeah, he took that name when he started playing with whatever dark power he found that gave him the ability to block me out." She laughs and says, "unlike you, I'm not very subtle when it comes to this mental stuff. Also, I think he knows me because I used to talk to him all the time when we were kids."   Sulphur: Professor Martinette mentioned a small fishing village called Bilgewater that smells like sulphur, due to the hot springs there. When the wind blows in the right direction, the town smells like rotten eggs.

Bilgewater is also really close to the spot where Titus' body was found. I believe Wraith was responsible for his murder. I have let Addie, Mavelle and Perrin know this and warned them to be on their guard, just in case. I need to get to the bottom of this. Is he specifically looking for people who share a telepathic link and killing them? Is it us he is looking for? I'm sure it can't just be a coincidence.
