Coins of the Dark King
During the reign of the powerful wizard known as the Dark King over two centuries ago, his generals and advisors were pivotal to his success. These individuals were granted special coins that were each bonded to a powerful extraplanar being. It was unknown how many of these coins existed and exactly what these beings and their capabilities were.
The party has learned of seven coins so far:
Trexyark, the Pit Fiend and wielder of Soul Render. Immense, brutal attacker best suited to the battlefield. His weapon was responsible for the shattered souls like Amethyst.
Xathor, the Shadow Demon. Little is known of this being other than it is connected to Wraith, one of the fragments of Amethyst's shared soul.
Lucia, the Succubus. She was bound to Trevor through the Coin he took from Invarnak's tower. She seems most interested in being set free, which has now happened.
The party discovered that Ockoa, yuan-ti leader of the now-destroyed Order of the Green Vial also carries a coin though little is known about what entity it is connected to. They know its name, Sisponel. It appears to have ties to the Fey realm.
Exelvion told them of three other coins: one bound to something called an Arcanaloth, another to a fey-enhanced Werewolf and lastly a Chain Devil named Niko Vol, the Strangling Wrath.
In a vision from a memory of Lucia, they saw another coin was linked to a Balor demon. The also saw the chamber in the Wizard's Guild tower of Dreyvier where the Dark King would address his coin bearer servants. The group went to this chamber, which was now being used as the guild leader's conference room, and they used the book to ritually break the connection between Lucia and the Coin held by Amethyst. It was successful and Lucia returned to the Hells.
They still know nothing of the ninth coin, though they suspect it is linked to a Fey entity.
After killing Wraith, the party now holds the Coin of Shadows and they have severed the bond with Xathor and banished the demon.
After encountering Ockoa again, they killed him and took the Coin of Vines and they have severed the bond to the entity known as Sisponel to banish them.
They went to the Vault of Light to recover the coins stored there but they discovered that the entry in the log-book had been altered two indicate only two coins were stored. When Father Brafton retreived the case from the vault, the coins were gone. After speaking with the Duchess of Port Oruss, they learned that she held the missing coin and took the other two to be used by her servants.
After destroying the Black Book, they were summoned to meet with the Duchess again and she gave them the Coin of Fangs as whatever they did caused the Wolf bound to the coin to become unstable. She still holds two of the coins and has no intention of returning them.
With the arrival of Sutara, the group has learned that Corwain, the bearer of the final coin, has fled somewhere far away.
