The Thing in the Woods - Resolved

Ellia came to town and after overcoming the shock of meeting Amethyst, she told the party about some large beast in the forest. Clawed foot prints and claw marks had been found and Ellia pulled a strange tiny organism from the furrows in one of the trees. It looked like a pale tadpole and was still moving even though it was sealed in a glass vial with no food, water, or air for multiple days.

Eldon and Lucas both confirmed that the thing was not a natural organism (possibly extra-planar) but they couldn't get more than that. Ellia had plans to bring it to Andres next. Andres had his suspsicions regarding the origin of the creature but needed to consult with some tomes to be sure.

The next day, a woodsman was brought into town with a terrible infected wound. Sora was able to heal the man and Andres said he knew what this was, a Slaad (of the Blue variety). The party went to the site of the attack and found the creature along with a number of half-grown tadpoles, some of which seemed to be eating the Slaad itself.

As they examined the body, they could hear howls of pain deeper in the forest. The noise came from a troll that had a number of slaad rip their way out of its torso. Thanks to some particularly-effected poisoned bolts from Trevor, they managed to defeat the creatures. The troll and the slaad eggs inside it were destroyed.
