Trolling Menace of Ro-in-oak - Resolved
Savage troll-like creatures that speak halfling stole a pair of goats from the Onluss Farm. After confronting (and dispatching) them, Amethyst read the thoughts of one of the trollings and saw memories of a primitive village filled with many others of their kind. The group of four they encountered were looking for new sources of food because the "Green Meat" was running out.
Welby recognized the name "Ro-in-oak" from stories that his father told him. The party spoke with Weldon at the General Store and he told them a tale of the Mystery of Mountain View and how it related to this Ro-in-oak. They now know approximately where the village is located.
The party suspected that another trolling attack took place at a scavengers camp off the road between Craven's Rest and Port Oruss.
On their second day of travel on their return to Craven's Rest, they encountered a large group of trollings attacking a roadside village. This group included some stronger individuals: a rogue, a hunter, and a shaman. The party interrogated one of the savages and learned that they were looking for food. The hunter escaped into the forest, but the party tracked him with the help of Barton and gained more information from him before killing him.
The source of their food, the "green meat", was a massive troll that was captured long ago during a hash winter while the village was starving to death. They ate the troll meat but the creature continued to regenerate, providing an endless source of food. Over time, the halflings were changed and became troll-like themselves. When the troll finally died, the trollings went out to look for more food. There also seemed to have been a rift between those in charge of the village.
The Crimson Hunt offered to transport the party to the location of Roinoak to deal with the trolling village. They also secured a contract via the Port Oruss officials and the party's share was 3000 gp. The ship took off on the 7th of Coldwane and after a stop in the ruined town of Mountainview, the group arrived in Roinoak.
With the help of the Sable Drake and the Crimson Hunt, the party wiped out the town full of monsters. Rolling Oak is finally at rest.
