Edellä Sky Archipelago
I bet it is wonderful to be a Genasi living on a magical land above the clouds. I wonder if they realize the tourism potential of their land. The Edellä Sky Archipelago is also known as the Genasi homeland. Beyond that, not much is known about these sky-islands or its people as no surface dweller has yet to be invited onto the floating islands and returned. Legend has it that the Genasi are ruled by a powerful Djinn who is responsible for the floating nature of his sky-islands. The Genasi living on the sky-archipelago keep to themselves and do not involve themselves in surface matters for reasons known only to them. The legends also provide some interesting details about these mysterious lands. However, because no known non-Genasi has set foot on the islands and returned these details are largely conjecture based on the current prevailing knowledge of Djinns and Genasi and the workings of magic.
Geography
They say the Genasi Lands is a sample platter of the wonders of our world. I bet some vain lord somewhere will try to emulate it. - Artur Neha, TravelerAccording to the legends, the Djinn created the Edellä to host different biomes simultaneously. A menagerie of sorts that goes well beyond keeping animals. Forests, plains, jungles, deserts, and tundras have doubtless been hosted by magical means on the larger floating islands of the Edellä. As it is told, an island can host one kind of environ at the start of the year but could host another kind of environ by the end of the year. It is all according to the Djinn's wishes. The central island hosts permanent features including a tall snow-capped mountain called the Jõudma. It is said that the stars are visible at all times at the summit of Jõudma.
Adrift Among the Clouds
The Edellä Sky Archipelago is not a stationary landmark. It slowly moves across the face of Awldor, though mostly over the oceans. Its last known location is in Northern Sinnen Ocean, where Captain Amaya's crew caught sight of the islands. According to her notes, the island chain does not move very fast so it is likely the islands can be found floating near the same spot they were last sighted on. That is, unless the Djinn hid the islands once more.Surrounding Storms
According to some older accounts, storms of various sorts move around the Edellä as opposed to through them (not over as they are in the sky). No doubt the Djinn exerts their influence over the weather within their domain. Particularly powerful storms can give the impression that the archipelago is a large cyclone (hurricane). In fact, the islands have moved within the center of such powerful storms. Some speculate that the islands are either caught up in the eye of the storm or perhaps the storm is how the islands move quickly from place to place.Fauna & Flora
The Edellä Sky Archipelago hosts all kinds of flora and fauna throughout the year. The exact makeup of life at any one time is determined by Djinn according to their wishes.
Natural Resources
The islands are ruled by a Djinn. What do you think they can get their hands on!There is no shortage of resources to be found on these islands. The Djinn does not allow it and so will periodically procure the needed resources for the survival of the Genasi living on the islands. But one cannot make a thing without taking from another. Not even a Djinn can violate such a rule, so where the Genasi Lands relishes in paradise some other corner of the world must be suffering in desolation. Else, we have all been robbed of some matter or other and are equally paying tribute without our knowledge nor consent. Whatever the means by which the Genasi Lands flourish, it is all academic until some brave adventurer can find the answers and the accompanying proof.

Note(s) from the Archivists:
I talked to a Genasi once, and she said that she had never been to this sky archipelago. That was a while ago. I wonder if she found her way there. - Archivist TharivolRemove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
