Magic Deadzones
To cast a spell and then to be greeted not with wonder but with only numbness is most unpleasant. A feeling brought about by voids in an Arcane Lattice that is so shattered.Magic deadzones are areas that dissipate magical energy within an area. To put it in another way, they are thought of by high mages to be gaps, or inert places, in the The Arcane Lattice. These zones can form randomly, sometimes after the manifestation of magic storms. Others have been long standing from the time of The Great Collapse. Some of these wane over time while others are growing ever so slowly. These seem to be rare if going by the notes of Travelers or other surviving adventurers. Magic deadzones can be manufactured through artificial means- an imbued item for example- often as a defense against spell casting in order to protect property or important persons. Some mages seek ways to cast spells within these fields either as a project of curiosity or as a means to an end.
To Spot a Deadzone
There are few ways to detect the presence of a magic deadzone. The most obvious way is to try spell casting some arcane projectile that will vanish as it enters the field. Certain magic sensitive metals can also be used as their inherent vibrations will cease when entering an area devoid of magical potential.

Note(s) from the Archivists:
Several of our library and archive rooms have been designed to be magic deadzones. That way any attempt to use magic will not result in the destruction of some of our valuable repositories. - Archivist Taenya I don't like those rooms. They make me feel a little queasy. - Archivist SavitriRemove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
