Mining Town of Andromeda

The town doesn't produce every metal and mineral, but it doesn't need to either.
— Phidi Strideheart, Traveler

Overview

While only a town in size, Andromeda is quite wealthy. The settlement owns one of the most productive mines in the Queendom of Lunaria, and it leverages this fact to a high degree. Andromeda is second only to the Silver City of Luna in terms of political clout even over the port towns. The towns greatest features are its mines. The entrances of this mines have been adorned with great keeps to protect the mines from outsiders seeking to plunder its treasures. The great keeps also protect the town from dangers lurking within the mines.   Andromeda is located inside a great valley on the northern side of the Bleau Massif. The Bleau Massif is located in the Fractured Coast, north of the Silver City of Luna. This valley has a lake in its center that provides the town with some fish for food, and the surrounding lands are suitable for growing crops.

Andromeda Mines

The Andromeda Mines produce a variety of metals. This production includes iron, copper, silver, gold, and tin. The mines are also known to produce several varieties of precious Gemstones: Andromevite, Lunarite, and Black Opal among the most valuable. The rarest and most prized metal from the Andromeda Mines is mithral, the strongest known metal in Awldor.   The mines are an important source of metals for the Lunarian Army. This is especially so considering this is one of a few mines known to produce the rare and valuable metal mithral.

Architecture

The architecture of the town is a mix of dwarven stone walls with elvish artwork adorning the faces of most buildings. This architectural mix is quite common in Awldor given the mixed demographics of post collapse society.

Andromeda Jewelry

Despite the quantities of metals and minerals produced by the mines of Andromeda, these raw materials are not where most of its wealth is made. It is made in the products made by highly skilled artisans who live in this town. The best known are the works of the Jewelers who have their choice picks of the Gemstones produced by the Andromeda mine. They then use these stones in their greatly desired products which they sell for a high price. Andromeda Jewelers have made several kinds of items for the Lunarian Royal Family, and a few for Queen Shava herself.

Note(s) from the Archivists:

It makes sense that a producer of rare resources would become wealthy. It seems to be a common pattern in life. - Archivist Savitri
