Traveling Star Steel

What material can be more pure than that which comes from the heavens?
— Gilmil Goldhand, Metallurgist

Overview

Traveling Star Steel from a Traveling Star is highly prized for its properties and its celestial origins. It is considered sacred in some cultures. This metal is used in the creation of special items as it was in the Forging of Avistar's Crown. Other uses include the creation of special arms and armor of great durability, such as those worn by several great heroes over the course of the world's new history. In short, when one wants their items to leave a lasting impression as well as to imbue it with a certain connection to the stars they will use Traveling Star Metal.     A highly skilled blacksmith with special tools is required to make use of this metal as its properties. Handling the metal with the standard set of tools along with standard practices will likely destroy those tools.

Properties

Material Characteristics

When discovered in its impact crater, the metal appears heavily twisted and distorted. It's fall from the heavens having set it ablaze in intense heat. Along with the metal is a variety of other materials as well, some are curiosities while others appear to be purer forms of other elements like copper.   When Traveling Star Steel is smelted into an ingot, yet another process concerning the steel that requires the services of a highly skilled blacksmith, it appears largely silver-ish in color. If one were to look very closely at the metal, a kind of prism sheen is present on the surface of the metal. By some standards, this makes the metal a very pleasant thing to look at.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Traveling Star Steel is both lightweight and strong. When properly polished, it shows none of the imperfections common to most metals made on the ground.

Note(s) from the Archivist:

I know of a set of rings that was made using this steel. I believe the Otima family wears them. - Archivist Savitri
