Realm of Gold
A plane of existence that is more of a pocket dimension than its own full plane, Auresia - Goddess of Wealth used a large portion of her power to create and maintain the miniature realm to house her impressive hoard and wealth of items. The realm is, as expected, mostly inhabited by gold of varying degrees. The ground is overflowing with coins, and a river of molten gold flows in a winding path. Mountains are created by exquisite items stacked upon one another - crowns, weapons, furniture...anything of shine, value, and quality...mostly golden.
Other than Auresia herself, it is naturally inhabited by two types of creatures, both created by her. The first is the Mimic, settled mostly as lifeless chests, though a few will discuss or hop to one another, living a rather simple and placated existence.
A primer on Mimics
The other is a Greedling (Described in this article ), though these creatures are rarely in realm, using it only as a means to empty their bounty and lighten their load for more expeditions in the other material planes.
Like other realms there is a way to enter the Realm of Gold, done so by capturing or killing a Greedling only after it has opened a portal. Timing on this is key as they are generally quick to hop into the portal, which will seal behind them, and even stopping the creature needs to be done with haste as the portal is oft to simply close on its own.
Mimics have always been a conundrum to the common man. Some believe it is the result of failed experiments on inanimate objects to make them sentient and helpful while others believe they're objects possessed by evil. Mimics have actually been created by Auresia as a way to both store and protect her wealth.
Mimics are naturally motivated by ambushing unaware adventurers to consume their items and essence to grow their ever impressive wealth, as equally as covetous as their creator.
A common depiction of Mimics are containers, often treasure chests, that are seemingly innocent until approached, at which point a set of gnashing teeth, a long and repulsive tongue, and often long and gnarled arms. However, Mimics take on the properties of items placed within. Commonly stored inside of a mimic is some sort of weapon, ammunition, or armor. These items are classified as tools of war and will lead to a more dangerous, more aggressive, and more commonly depicted Mimic. They can effectively die not only by being attacked, but also by having the items inside of them removed. Their death will seem inoffensive, often reverting back to a, seemingly simple, chest.
Placing new items inside will awaken the Mimic, but a new soul will enter, so only reviving the body and not the previous incarnation. This normally takes a month after the new item is placed inside, to allow the Mimic body to absorb the Essence of the items. The creatures can have their actions and mentality change by the items stored within. This can also affect their abilities, meaning it is capable to heighten the intelligence of a Mimic by placing scholarly books and scrolls inside of the chest. That said, a Mimic will never grow to even average intelligence and will only be able to...well...mimic what an intelligent person sounds like, often to very comedic effects. The highest their intelligence will be able to go is to that of an Ogre, even though their vocal cadence will match whatever the most prominent text is inside.
What is a pocket dimension?
What is a pocket dimension?
A pocket dimension is a realm of existence outside of the material or spiritual world. It is able to house both a material body and spirit, either together, or separated (Such as a ghost, or a golem). While experienced wizards are able to create pocket dimensions, this one is considered its own realm since it is larger and more permanent, as well as able to store far more items and denizens. The Realm of Gold, for all intents and purposes, is the perfect middle ground between a full blown plane and a mage's dimensional abode.
