The Luwani Desert

A vast stretch of sand, dirt, and rock formations settled in the east. The sun bears down the hardest, practically sitting on the shoulders of those brave enough to wander into the expanse, yet the night time is hardly any further consolation, as the sands grow as cold as ice making the need for a heat source both ironic and critical.
In certain parts of the desert mirages happen frequently, making getting trapped and lost all the more real.

Geography

The edges of the desert host mesas, cliffs, and rock formations, but the eastern expanse is simply long distances of sand forming dunes and little else.
