Dalish Forest (dah-leesh)

The Dalish (dah-leesh) Forest is located in the southern part of Oestbernia, along its border with the Toldrun See. The forest is nurtured by the nearby Toldrun River which flows on the forest's southern border. Across the river, the forest has been trimmed back a few hundred yards from the river, for various reasons the See has never been able to sufficiently articulate. The game that escape the hunts in the southern part of the forest find new homes across the river - if they can manage that journey - making the Dalish Forest a pretty heavily populated wood (with beasts and creatures instead of humanoids).
There are no settlements directly surrounding the forest, as it has historically been fraught with peril from dangerous creatures. The few settlements that were placed near the forest were overrun and destroyed by beasts, and it is possible to stumble upon these ruins in the forest's outskirts. Small bands of loggers do travel the day or two journey from Rio Plano to cut down trees and haul the timber back, but this is about the extent of the forest's regular use. There are rumors of tiny forest villages that no one has ever discovered, populated by elves, gnomes, or halflings according to the legends.
