A Tale of Sug'Dukht and Av'Ril
Long ago, before the Sun's children rained down Ayonerra, lived two wicked races. Malak’his, with blinding halos and twisted wings, and Shed’genenis - with flesh-piercing horns and crooked tails. Each mocked the other, deeming their own race above all. Thousands of battles were waged and thousands of kin’s blood was spilled.
One such clash seemed like any other. Malak’hi commander Av’Ril led the charge, shattering opponent’s horns and sparing none. But one soldier stood toe to toe with the commander. As their weapons shot sparks upon each strike, curiosity won over and Av’Ril asked her name.
Sug’Dukht.
For six days and six nights the two sparred. And at the end of the sixth night, the two laid together.
Blinded by love, Sug’Dukht put away her blood purity, the waging war, and dreamt of fleeing with Av’Ril.
Blinded by shame, Av’Ril promised Sug’Dukht he’d scout the lands and return once it was safe.
All she needed to do was wait.
But the wretched liar confessed to malak'hi King Ahog’Reon. Tears flowed as he begged for forgiveness, told where he left Sug’Dukht, and sought to mend his mistake. But a single slash silenced the betrayer, and Av’Ril’s head rolled away from the disgusted king.
The sound of wings alerted Sug’Dukht. With joy, she looked up to meet her love. But joy turned to dread when malak’hi soldiers covered the sky. Sug’Dukht ran until her feet turned sore and bloody. She reunited with her clan and with renewed spirit battled Av’Ril’s kin.
And during the Month of Dekabura, our Messiah was born.
