Dunyar

Dunyars were created by goddess Sept’Ambra after Menes'has lost their original magic. The lack of horns, wings, tails and halos ensured their strong link to distant stars.

Magic

Dunyars can connect to Gveleshapni, each granting different magic. Initially, newborns link to several stars. As they grow, every bond aside from one diminishes over time before being fully severed. If other links persist, the body automatically stops the magic flow as a self-defence mechanism, rendering the person without magic. Dunyars with an especially close connection to stars can hear Gveleshapni. As the link strengthens, the mage’s hair and eyes partially change to the star’s colour. Those who completely connect to their stars are known as Grdzneulni. Their hair and eyes fully change colour, while the body stops ageing. Only one Grdzneuli of each colour can exist simultaneously. Currently there are Red, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple Grdzneulni.

Gveltbilva/Varskvlavtskheleba (Snake Fever/Star Fever)
Gveltbilva is potentially fatal condition affecting dunyar mages who took too much magic from their stars, usually when under intense stress. Symptoms include headache, irritability, confusion, slurred speech, loss of consciousness, hallucinations and seizures.
If treated immediately, most survive and recover fully. But some are permanently affected. They constantly hear their stars, have visual and auditory hallucinations, paranoia, body weakness and lack of self-care.

In severe cases, the doctor might permanently sever the mage's link to their star, but a complete recovery isn't guaranteed.

Basic Information

Facial characteristics
Variable nose, eye and lip shapes. On average, women faces have less prominent brows and chins.

Genetics and Reproduction
Dunyars have varying degrees of success when mixing with other races. Oftentimes, the child takes characteristics from both parents, but can't link to stars. The exception being dunyar-menes'ha children. They are born as dunyars, but with a darker complexion, slightly pointy ears, no wings or horns and fully retain dunyar magic.

Genetic Descendants
Lifespan
100 - 120 years
Average Height
Men - 1.85 metres   Women - 1.77 metres
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Skin colour ranges from white to olive. Hair and eye colour depend on parents' colour and the individual's connection to a star. If the link between the two is particularly strong, a newborn's hair colour may match the Gveleshapi.
