Flying Islands
Flying islands were raised by Grdzneuli ruler Al'Anraakh during the Millennial War of Colours. He elevated an enormous chunk of land between Taraakh and Skneli, tore it to pieces and spread all around Ayonerra as his fortresses. Each island served as a citadel, terrifying any land settlement they hovered above.
Following Al'Anraakh's defeat and the end of the Millennial War of Colours, the islands stayed afloat and became important transporting vessels for trading. They are primarily inhabited by Aakhirs, Stagyars, Menes'has and Bahhrayms, while other races are more temporary residents. Each flying city is ruled by different shahs, while the largest one and several surrounding it are controlled by the padishah.
Flying islands help close the gap between far away kingdoms, sharing goods and knowledge amongst them. Seeing an approaching city is a sure way to breathe life into the cities. Descended aakhir merchants are quick to open up bazaar stalls, selling the best selection of embroidery-adorned fabric, tapestry, rugs, exotic food and spices from all over Ayonerra.

One might see potions, dyes, trinkets and other chiraki goods straight from the Chiraki Abyss, colourful Taraakhi glass jewellery, tropical fruits, medical herbs, woods, perfumes from Nikophsia, whale oil and sheep wool from Nine Skies, renowned Vinwardisian wine and more.
Movement
Each flying island has a control panel filled with different runes. Several aakhir operators diligently keep an eye on the skies with eagle-like vision and adjust island movements with acute precision. They move at a faster pace than most large ships, and traverse over mountains, cascading rivers, harsh deserts and oceans with ease, greatly reducing the travel time.An island hitting something is considered a bad omen and the city is quickly evacuated. The deserted island keeps drifting on its own or falls depending on the sustained damage. If it becomes too unstable, the island is occasionally drowned in the ocean.
