Limericks of Nuran

Nuran is the Trickster, so it should not surprise anyone that their wisdom is contained in what is considered as a joke; not only by every other religious body, but by their own followers.

Little is known on how or when the pamphlets of limericks began, but some time in early 8,000Rs they began circulating through the capital cities. For many centuries the limericks were considered unintellectual and, while not on the Lwa-Saþykktir - Tekau, were considered contrary to civilized acceptability by many of the more influential citizens of the Realm. For a significant period in history, some four centuries, they contemned the collection of limericks and petitioned the Devouring Mother to have them placed on the Lwa-Saþykktir - Tekau. But, She did not. And, now many thousands of years later, Her wisdom is known.

The limericks are organized into pamphlet sets. Each set is roughly a collection of 13-21 pamphlets, and each set is dedicated to either a god and some aspect of life in the Realm. To be clear, these are not high quality pamphlets. Nuran has no official priests, churches, temples or official gatherings. These pamphlets are often printed on cheap rough paper, trifolded, and then folded again and again to be stuffed in people's pockets, bags, or shoved under mattresses. Knowledge of the pamphlets is common in the Realm, and at some point it is a practical certainty that an individual will ask, "Where do the pamphlets come from?" No one really spends anytime looking for an answer though, because its Nuran, the Trickster. Why waste your time trying to figure out what The Trickster is doing? For all anyone knows, Nuran could just be tricking you ... everyone.
One of the reasons why so many people find the pamphlets difficult to take seriously as spiritual texts is the simple fact that they are often base, sexual, offensive and frequently place those things that many find sacred in un-sacred situations. The entire collection on Veratha is almost an erotic chronicle. And, the collection on Byr-yth is generally accepted to portray that divine presence as fraudulent and incompetent; and a sexual pervert.

The followers of Nuran simply point out that if you seriously believe Nuran's perspective on the gods or whatever, then the joke is really on you.

Come on! This is seriously funny. Sure its not true. It's all a trick. Nuran, after all. You got to ask yourself.... where is the trick and where is the truth? - Jirl Omanis - Faithful of Nuran, Ur-Moaza(South Moor).

Purpose

No one is really sure.
Or ... any opinion is just as good as any other, given that Nuran has refused to offer theirs through an officially recognized voice, person or organization.
