Winter Solstice

Day of Family and Sharing

at Leddíntonne, Isle of Root

"(...) we sat was transformed into two chairs with bare branches entwined in front of a table, laden with sweets and cheese, and two other matching chairs. The cherry tree gave way to holly and pine ornaments and candles, as the traditional decoration of the winter solstice week in my palace."
in In Between Times

"(...) Leddíntonne became more spectacular to celebrate the birthday of the Empress and Princess Herdeira. The streets were all adorned with small stars and fires in her honor and, as it was the Winter Solstice, they gathered decorations of olive and pine in colorful crowns hanging on all the doors. The one who came from the palace was cheerful and it was not uncommon to hear the roots cheat the melodies as they entered and left the shops loaded with colorful bags, because it was tradition to exchange gifts in the birthday of the Empire, to celebrate their arrival and liberation from the Black Period."
