Shara is born in the Isle of Guilt to Queen Helanah of Honor, who was secretly married to late King of Ash and persecuted by Haveda Ash. Helanah dies shortly after birth and Margaíhza adopts and raises Shara as her own daughter to protect her from the Restoration.
