As a guard, Ciarán is always on the lookout for bad news. He doesn't have much of a fun life, for he has to stand guard every day. But when he does have time off, he makes the best of it by spending time with his little sister, Onyx, though she is not always too fond of him.

17th of Abrilia, 1324
Today, I had to go to second post, which is the border between The Darkstone Woods and The Silver Forest is. It was a rainy day, and the snow was beginning to melt. The usual happened at least until lunchtime, which was our 2 hour break time... I got up early in the morning, had some nice breakfast (Onyx had made it herself, and it was delicious as usual), got my armor, and started to head down towards the border. Nyaa was standing post with me this time, and she isn't much of a talker. In fact, she looked like she could use some sleep. Some of our guards don't have a choice on whether they have a break or not, but she looked like she did have some breaks, but just couldn't sleep. I asked her what was wrong, and she didn't say anything at first, so I offered her a meal at lunch, and she nodded and looked away. Nyaa was another Tiefling with deep red skin and large horns. She had dark freckles covering her face as well. Her hair was dark brown and pulled back into a loose bun. She was just as muscular as the rest of the guards.
When lunch finally came around, Nyaa and I walked to a nearby town and grabbed some lunch. We sat down outside and I asked her if she was ok again. She looked pretty reluctant but in the end, she told me that her little sister was not doing very well and she had gotten a high fever the other night. She had stayed up all night trying to figure out how to get her temperature to go down. We sat and talked for a bit. After telling me, she seemed a little less depressed and I told her I would do my best to try and help. I know a couple of plants that might help with bad fevers, so I got some for her and told her to take the rest of the day off. She did, and I told my boss why she left, and he was pretty ok with it, he gets touchy sometimes... I just hope this sickness that's spreading, doesn't get to my sister.
