Mydwyn, the Fey Kingdoms, Realm of Sun
From the chapter, Introduction, in Prime Arcanist of Conjuration Su-Yen's The Fey, Mydwyn, and the Realm of Sun.
"Mydwyn, the Realm of Sun and Reflections, what the unenlightened might call the Feylands, is ultimately home to the fey or fae, whimsical yet dangerous beings from the fairer Mirror Realm. Their origin is not certain, but modern theories propose that during the Coalesence the spirits that took up root in the realm soaked up much of the latent magical energy and these spirits are what we call archfey (see Lords of the Fey or Fey Lords). It is theorized that around the same time that these archfey absorbed their power, the remaining magical energy seeped into the land and created the minor fey such as the nature spirits like naiads, dryads, and satyrs.
Now, I have spent sometime within the Realm of Sun, and the following will be a general overview of the Realm of Sun for those of you reading this that plan on making the crossover.
The Golden Rule
First, there is one rule that you must remember. The term fey or fae is a demonym used to describe any entity from the Realm of Sun. It is never to be used in the presence of a fey of any kind if your intention is to have a positive interaction. They should be addressed as children of the sun, lady or lords of the sun. When dealing with archfey, my lord and my lady function just as well. To use a phrase from Ainu, translated of course, 'manners are the maker of a man'. I might add that I always loved how it translates into this language.
The Cities of Gold
The Cities of Gold are the domains of the first archfey. They are located in special areas known as thanes, or places of power, and it is rare for the presider over a thane to be unaware of those within it. There are four Cities of Gold: Summerwind, Winterfell, Fallscrest, and Springlily. Summerwind and Winterfell exist within the Dusklands while Springlily and Fallscrest are both in the Dawnlands.
Wintervale - Queen Winter, Lady FrostSpringlily - Spring Mother
Summerwind - King of the Summersun, Lady of Gleaming, Golden Mistress
Fallscrest - Father Solstice
Seelie and Unseelie
The terms seelie and unseelie is often misinterpreted by mortals. They have come to be used as synonyms for 'good' and 'bad' fey. This misunderstanding is dangerous as neither of the two hold mortal lives significance. It is more of a distinction within their beliefs between themselves and how they deal with mortals.Geography
Dawnland & Duskland
The Realm of Sun is split in to two broad areas. They are named for their position relative to a phenomenon within the sky above. A distinct separation manifests skyward between a typical dawn sky and the twilight sky one would see in the Material Plane. While 'location' has an ephemeral quality in Feylands, it is general practice to describe things within the light side as being Dawnward and places closer to the eternal twilight as being Duskward. I will be doing so within the rest of this tome.
