Nami
The Veiled Mistress
"The Sentinel spoke after her twin and when she did her voice soothed the hall. She took place in front of Iman, dimming his glaring countenance and speaking and not speaking for her words were not clear.
'Everything needs its polar to spin around an axis and be balanced. My wombmate like a hot coal must be tempered in the quenching water of my oration. If the world is stark and bare for all to see, the creation will wither for lack of inspiration. It will cavort to its demise and wither and die to no surprise, but I? I see the shadows from the light, where mysteries flight and flock to. While a face begets the light, another must skulk the shadows for that inspires exploration.
The halls hummed with quiet discussion until Iman spoke against his twin. 'Dear sibling, why would you enshaden the world I lighten? Should not the world be stark and forthcoming?' To which Nami replied, 'Wherever there is light, dear sibling, there is shadow and where there is shadow there is the chance for courage. Would you prefer the creation craven and meek?' Iman conceded and Euphrates rose and countered, 'Courageous, yes, but those who hide in the darkness know no law. Would they not see to exploit their lawlessness against the rest?' And Nami answered, 'Would you have the whole world conquered? What would be the need for civilization if it is ubiquitous? What is a fire without water? What is light if there is no darkness?
I will treasure the shaded places of the world. I will treasure hidden phrases and those who walk under my own soft light. This is a beautiful thing."
