Defences
The Leonin Manluks are ancestral soldiers and military of the Church of the Three Saints. They serve as protectors of the church and as an extension, the people of the Serene City. When the founder, Saint Ysabeta, first came upon the city's future site, she claimed it as a site to be erected in honor of the Maker. Legends say that a legion was sent down by the Maker to protect the saint's people. Pyrox Goldenstride, flanked by his four thousand Leonin Manluks appeared before the saint vowing to protect the descendants of hers until the last manluk spilled it's blood in defense.
A little over 150 years ago, when the ancient blue dragon, Amemnon, attacked the city with her army of kobolds and halfdragons, a miracle of the dwarves, the brass dragon appeared to battle the wyrm. As the battle within the city raged on, the two dragons disappeared into the grasslands and neither returned. The dwarves of the city were questioned, they were clueless to the truth of the stories they had been told as children. Since then, the people believe that their city is protected. Some believe this protection to be divinely ordained.

Industry & Trade
Amalfi's export is its ingenuity and its branding. Those who have heard of it from Amalfians have heard the long name, how they boast of their city's magnificence. This breeds curiosity and soon hundreds of thousands of traders, merchants, and scholars made the trip to the Serene City. Though the land which Amalfi rests on it not abundant with natural resources, the manufactured goods it creates are sought by many across the land and sea.
Nobles pine for new undiscovered artists whom they can sponsor. In recent years, a painting was claimed to be a creation of Saint Ysabeta's and with that a rush for painters exploded. Amalfi has left behind the impressionist techniques of the last decade and sprung forth into an arms race of uniqueness. To those from other lands, it appears a mess, not what they were raised to think was art.
Amalfi is home to several trading companies responsible for the exportation of Amalfi's goods across the seas or to the other Trade Triad States. Of note are the Twin Dragons, the Lowell Trading Co., and the East Makan Co..

Infrastructure
The minds of Amalfi have constructed cable cars across the city to serve as quick transportation from one point to another. They are powered by the Heat Stacks, a series of towers spread across the city that release vapor into the air.

Points of interest
The Concillary
In the middle of Gallaren Heights lies the Conillary, the central location for the Council of Deacons to meet and discuss the running of the city. This building is where the laws of the city are written and kept. It also serves as the civil records building holding many if not all of the city's paper records dating back to the building's construction.
Goldleaf Bank
This bank is the holder of a majority of the wealth circulating throughout the Serene City of Amalfi. Merchants, traders, and noble families stockpile their gold here within its vaults. The Goldleaf is the only institution of its kind in the known world. Within the city, it is run by the Lenderium Guild aka the Lenders. These agents also exert the will of the bank across the seas. The Lenders hold an incredible amount of influence over the city and make sure that debts to them return to their coffers. The first thing noticed by foreigners is that Amalfians use paper for money. The Goldleaf has several stations across the city, espcially in the Quays, where gold is taken and exchanged for the currency of the city. Anyone of course leaving the city may reclaim the gold they brought, minus what they spent, and a small fee.
Heat Stacks
The Heat Stacks run the cable cars that run throughout the city. For a low cost, they can turn a day's trip across the city into a fifteen minute journey. They were created and are run by the Steelers guild, a faction of mostly dwarven smiths who are responsible for many of the city's public works.
Hogsbottom's Big Hog Emporium
Standing out in the crowd of businesses trying to look professional, HBHE looks wacky and the contents inside match. It's a collection of magic items as well as general supplies for the city found by the current owner's mysterious ancestor. At the current point, HBHE has several franchise shops scattered throughout Amalfi and has become a household name for common goods.
Librum Globus
The largest repository of history in records and written accounts of events. Includes theses written by scholars of their respective fields and tomes from other countries. Run by volunteers of the Magis, an organization dedicated to ideals of Ioun, Sentinel of Magic and Knowledge, and patron of Saint Ysabeta. It is said that because of the Librum's immense size and catalogue, more often than not, information goes missing here.

Natural Resources
One of the few natural resources that Amalfi exports and manufactures is the olives that grow in the hills outside the city. The oil it makes from these olives it treasured around the world.
