Shareni

In spite of its ample farmland and notable mineral resources, the Caldaraan nation-state of Shareni has historically been defined in international theaters by their unfriendliness to their neighbors. Because of its land-locked position, even when Shareni held enough resources to be self-sustaining, they lacked the hard power or strategic geography to be fully independent, instead relying on trade from their neighbors. In times when Shareni exports were in surplus across the continent, or where foreign markets controlled the flow of their goods, the Shareni government and people reacted with bitterness and often violence. As such, they were one of the last states to join theĀ Caldaraan Confederation, and many political commentators suspect they only did so when no other options were present.
