Session 47

General Summary

Down to Termite Town

The party ventured down into the termite mound to find themselves at a multi-pronged crossroads. Not knowing where to tread, Nova turned towards one of the dog-sized termites and asked where they should go to try to find Ariadne's mom. As it spoke back, the termite claimed to know the way, though asked for one of Nova's sense for a day. Agreeing, Nova lost her eyesight, and the party followed the termite down one of the tunnels.   Deeper inside, the party came to a set of big-headed termites blocking the doorway. They explained that past them lies the queen, and what of value are you willing to contribute to the colony. Thinking about what to give, Ahrieya asked what the colony values. Survival, prosperity, perpetuity, and things of the like. With one of the potions Ariadne stashed from the hags, they offered something to make the termite queen appear younger, to which the termites claimed that the queen has not mated in some time. The termites allowed them through.   As they continued further into the colony, the party eventually came across a termite lounging on a throne with a small little tiara. Asking why they are before her, they explained that they are seeking Redinella's sanctum and if anyone else has passed through. Yes, apparently there was a pale man who moved through here not too long ago and killed many of her workers. Though, the queen soon trailed off on her romantic plight, to which Idris was immediately offered to try and fix the situation. No not like that, to teach her how to dance once again in order to attract a mate. Were it not for Idris' mutated appearence, perhaps the queen would have been interested. Nonetheless, she allowed them to pass as some workers dug through a dirt tunnel behind the party, revealing a portal forth.

Caves and Bugs

Appearing in an open area atop a large mountain, Ahrieya took no time in inspecting the strange water and collecting some. Gio, the ever enthusiastic scientist, decided to do some self-testing and poured a bit on him, very quickly revealing its necrotic potency. Off to the side, a stone statue with four leathery wings stood. As the party approached, the statue spoke, claiming that they needed a blessing in order to find what they were looking for. Upon investigation, it seemed like the voices were a bit too eager, and that they were coming from behind the statue. As the party approached, two giant manta-like creatures attacked the party. Widdling them down, the party eventually dispached them with Ariadne grabbing both of them and dipping them into the pool like an acid vat.   Continuing up the mountain and into a cave, the party came across massive chunks of chitin resting in a defiled pool while off to the side, a small campside could be seen. Gio, ever the adventurer, went over to the old insence left at the campsite and gave a bit whiff. Suddenly, his vision faded. He lived his life outside Barovia; saw his farm prosper, his children grow old, the works. As he layed on his deathbed, he suddenly came to by Ahrieya and Idris, upset that he was still here the entire time. Gio's mind seems quite fractured, trying to keep things together.   Inside the cave, the party came across a tree with white and black flowers. As they approached, three elvish priests apperated, asking the party why they've come. It seems as though the gaunt, pale individual that came here before bound the priests to the tree, and left something behind to guard his path. In order to open the way, the crystal needs to be purified. As Ariadne took lead and began to approach, one of the priests snapped the bridge from existance only to be foiled as Idris managed to have Ariadne and himself fly, and Ahrieya help on carpet back. As the fight ensued, giant eldritch wasps emerged from the pools of water, hungry for prey and in league with the newly revealed hags. Gio had a bit of eyebite, though it didnt stop his kicking, Nova found that her ace crackled with lightning, and Idris turned into a rat for a while before hiding himself in one of the hags' clothes. Though, when he turned back, a horried wardrobe malfunction left everyone horrified. After, Idris found himself enthralled and persuading Nova to hit herself. With much effort, however, the party emerged victorious.

Hundreds of Legs in the Starry Sky

A portal emerged from the crystal once the beasts were dispatched. Moving through, they found themselves within a massive insectoid-like structure. Quickly taking a moment to hide, a whistler came over and consumed one of the colorful eggs left in this chamber. As the party investigated, Ahrieya found that some of the eggs gave brief visions of what seemed like dreams (at least one with Gio seemed like it). Keeping some relevant eggs, the party moved on to removed a creepy flesh door which spoke their names.   Ahead, the structure seemed to break, and out floating in the space were chunks of chitin. As the party boarded the carpet to fly across, a multi-legged creature emerged from the chitin to assault the party.
