The Village of Barovia

Tall shapes loom out of the dense fog that surrounds everything. The muddy ground underfoot gives way to slick, wet cobblestones. The tall shapes become recognizable as village dwellings. The windows of each house stare out from pools of blackness. No sound cuts the silence except for mournful sobbing that echoes through the streets from a distance.
The Village of Barovia is a dreary place, where the sparsely populated homes rest in close proximity to a castle that looms off in the distance. People rarely leave their homes, and if they do it is to go to one of a few places such as the tavern, store, or church. The people here seem pale, gaunt, and miserable.

Bildrath's Mercantile

The general store is run by Bildrath Cantemir. Those who are knowledgeable on anything relating to the prices of adventuring gear and general supplies will quickly find that he severely upcharges for all the items he has in stock. With no other competition in town, the owner seems to think he has a monopoly in the area in terms of general equipment. He is also known to barter and purchase pawned-off items, albeit to his own benefit.

Blood on the Vine Tavern

The musty tavern shows an air of long lost finery. Elegant dyes and paints on the walls are chipping away, drapes over windows look worn and ragged. The overall dreariness of the space is only slightly countered by the warm light emitting from the hearth
This tavern certainly was something nice...once. Owned by a trio of formerly-Vistani women, they serve wine and wine only (a sweet red as a matter of fact). Other than Granny's dream pastries, losing track of oneself at the bottom of a cup seems one of the only ways to escape the dreariness of the village everyone has found themselves in.

Church of the Morninglord

The church sits at the northern portion of the Village of Barovia. Here, the priest Donovich serves the Morninglord. Though, not many people attend the church as of late. Donovich's son, Doru, was targetted by Strahd in the past, and after some time he was taken. When Doru returned, his skin was pale and gaunt, and he bore wicked fangs and a bloodlust in his eyes. Rumor has it that Donovich has locked his son in the basement of the church and has prayed for his recovery ever since.
