The Sha'ad Wastes

Geography

The Sha'ad wastes are about how they sound. A massive desert with extremely low rainfall and scorching temperatures in the summer months, though during winter nights it can sometimes drop in temperature to what most humans would still consider uncomfortably warm. The Khabik River runs through nearly the entire desert, flowing north to The Locrud Badlands. The Asherai Sultanate's capital Niveh is built on it's banks. The only permanent settlements in the region are along the river, or along the edges of the wastes where it is slightly more hospitable. The areas between are a sea of shifting sands, which have claimed the lives of many.

Fauna & Flora

The Sha'adi have biologically adapted to the intense heat and sun, with some fringe historians claiming this was partly brought about due to interbreeding of the settlers with a race of people already living in the area. If that is the case, that old race was bred out of existence.
