History
The Sha'adi founded the second great realm of
Barovia,
The Asherai Sultanate. The Sha'adi descended from the
Oestmarken who, during the second migration, remained in
The Sha'ad Wastes to found
Niveh on the banks of the
River Rakkad. It is speculated that the
Oestmarken bred with native humans of the desert region and thus gained the adaptations necessary to thrive in the harsh conditions. However, most historians hold to the position that the continent was uninhabited by anything but
Orcs prior to year 0.
Legend
The Sha'adi believe that their god,
Marutuk, once ruled the cosmos from
The Sha'ad Wastes. They believe that upon their arrival in
Barovia, Marutuk paved the way for their civilization to prosper, and blessed their bodies to survive in the land of sun and sky where others cannot. He now watches over his people from the heavens.
