Umberlee

Umberlee is the goddess of the tempest. In perpetual rage she thrashes the seas and tears the skies asunder. Bleak sailors fear her wrath, and pray to Vulkur to defend them from her insatiable thirst for drowned souls. According to one version of the legend, Umberlee was once the lover of the great shark Sekilon, and after he broke her heart and fled to the great deep she has been desperately clawing at the surface of the sea in search for him ever since. Some sailors believe that rather than missing her lost love, she instead despises him. It is common on many ships to burn shark oil in their lamps, almost in the way of incense, in an attempt to appease the wroth queen.
