The War of Silver Knives

Military action

314
316

The War of Silver Knives, a conflict between the Dilisnyas, Katskies, and the Petrovnas, purportedly begins with the Assassination of Lady Izabela Dilisnya.

The War of Silver Knives was far less a war than a series of tit-for-tat assassinations involving the Dilisnya, Katsky and the Petrovna families. Izabela Dilisnya, aged matriarch of her line, was assassinated in 314 BC. The crime was blamed upon the Katsky and the Petrovna families. They had been locked in a dispute with the Dilisnyas over the rights to the prosperous (but now played out) silver mines of Mount Gries. There was also a century of accumulated ill-will between the families. The assassination touched off the War of Silver Knives. Count Barov von Zarovich ordered an end to it in 316 BC. Peace was restored, as Count Barov von Zarovich commands an end to the War of Silver Knives and appeases the warring parties with gifts of land, but the distraction and the losses helped pave the way for the Terg Invasion in 320 BC.
