Session 20: Animaesus and Tarrasques: Reframing
General Summary
It is the 1st of Fall feather, still late in the morning, 2 or 3 am, and the clouds hang over the City of Salt like grit and guilt. But hours before, its foundations shook as a young adult tarrasque began to terrorize the Tailstones, again like 12 years ago, of the City.
Our party begins, with Eros inside Ka'sh, but she only sees and controls through her own immense pain and confusion, this giant mechanoid, turtle-man--suit of armor. In this confusion, she dances and so does Ka'sh, and she jumps, and falls to her knees as Ka'sh, cracking the crystalline structure beneath her. With this cracking, fear erupts from the drow around her, Shallowbutter (Eros' keeper), Neferteri (Drow Mage), and others. Neferteri casts a powerful spell to waylay Eros' control over Ka'sh. She does not awaken for 8 hours, but she does find herself back home afterward.
Mel also takes this time to scout out a new lair, and she finds a great cavern of the Underdark 400 meters down and a few hundred feet just south of the City.
Meanwhile, Stryke meets back up with his children, and after spending some time cleaning up the aftermath of the young tarrasque--the carnage and bodies--he reminds him of first finding Leandra, the pumthera rogue in training who is like his own daughter. Unknown to him as to why, the badgerman feels a strong connection to Leandra and his means to find his own sanity and place again after the darkness of the city, its malicious ferocity, and the fall of his other drow daughter, Adira. His other children, Rhogar, Donovan, and Adira's twin sister, Althea, go within the city to help with those lost after the fall and apparent end of the Blood Festival. Leandra is greatly affected by this, but she is also very concerned over her adoptive father, Stryke. Rognar is not behaving as his norm, and she claims that with everything going on, she just cannot handle her father questioning his own purpose and strength. His mixed, emotional answer forces Leandra's emotions to overwhelm, and she runs away into the city. Here, Stryke sees the young woman.
The next Day, the 2nd of Fall Feather, after sleeping in for most of the morning after a long night and day, Birdman and Eros awake in an almost very mundane scene, a conversation around their dinner table. They talk of the recent Trauma, Birdman's ability to procreate the vorpal axe of the dwarf and learn of Trek Halfstar and Telearia's untimely death, and the need for seriousness. Birdman gives an ultimatum to his friend Eros: the drow must be gotten rid of, and we must stand against their tyranny. This shakes Eros, and she is forced to revisit her relationship with Shallowbutter, her Matron Mother, and the Drow of the 12th House after Birdman jumps through their kitchen window to go find Stryke. He finds Stryke, who has haphazardly fallen asleep on the walls of the Prime Gate, near central to the tarrasque keep and hold. He convinces the badgerman to join him at his office, and Mel joins up with them too. Birdman gives the vorpal axe of the fallen dwarf to Stryke.
While in his office, after Eros has communicated with Shallowbutter about a possible new order for the city, they deal quickly with a disguised Wendy, Eros' friend, as a Wanda. Eros pretends to be Seymour Butts, but they do convince the Stagecourts to set her free. With this success, the group begins to lay plans to thwart the Matron Mother of the Drow of the 12th House, but not after learning through keen clairvoyance of Roxana's imprisonment and collateral conditioning of Eros' cannot give control of Ka'sh back to the drow. At this point, Eros and Shallowbutter assume Ka'sh has already imprinted on her. He may not be able to follow any other pilot. Additionally, the group reconvenes at this office and finds purpose: Roxana will be saved, the drow should not control Ka'sh, and they should take out the drow control of the city too.
They now need to meet with there perspective allies, houses, hide the children in Mel's new lair, and possibly destabilize the city's law and order for the sake of a larger freedom lost by the drow greed.
