Session 31: Alucard of the 8th House, Reinforcements and Dark Deals: Animaesus and Tarrasques
General Summary
The first break upstairs, Ferrum followed by Mel, being ambushed by spiders and drow alike.
Meanwhile, Thelas and Alucard recognize each other through the transparent but silhouetted spider web doors of this drow sanctum. They engage in conversation, where Alucard mentions how he was sent by the 8th house to aid in this siege, and how odd he thinks it is for the drow disguise and earth elemental that the young elf rides upon. Garvuld hears this conversation and intercedes out of protection for the party's flank and the young Thelas.
Ssech, Aether, the Trochil brothers (only 2 remain) go upward to aid in the drow ambush.
Garvuld is eventually convinced of the genuine nature of Alucard, and he opens the drow door with the seeming magic still in effect to allow such a deception for this magical wards. Alucard follows the discguised dwarf and high elf astride the earth elemental, hoping these drow are indeed the assassins and interlopers hired by his own 8th house and the other four houses.
Mel and Ferrum must work quickly to push the ambush of the drow away from the stairs, so other compatriots can join in in the slaughter of the 12th House. However, they are thwarted by the drow leadership, capable captains, casters, and assassins who summon demons, darkness, and magical arts that nearly cripple the group if not for some magical aids from the groups cohesiveness.
Garvuld however is able to hear another entrance, and Alucard, Thelas and he, almost to Alucard's demise, meet with a unique demon from the Abyss who serves the drow Matron Mother, summoning other demonic spiders born of inner fear to attack these three intruders. Garvulds magical fists and giant might make quick work of these foes, while Alucard aids with magical effects and Thelas deals with his earth elemental losing its connection to his mind. This was after he made a hole in the floor to aid in the attacking of the demon. Soon other giant spiders and spider swarms join.
Each group is fighting for their lives, desperately, and Garvuld soon is beset by the Matron Mother herself. Thelas becomes one with the stone, and the earth elemental rages from accidental attacks by Alucard and Thelas too. However, soon the stairs are overtaken, and the group moves around the second floor to flank and outmaneuver the drow, forcing the Matron Mother back into her own quarters.
Garvuld is the first brave enough to break passed the poisonous webbing to follow the Matron Mother. He is greeted by her two glabrezu demons around a summoning circle of great power. Garvuld summons the deep blood and the primordial gods of the moon and sky tilt the moon and sky to that of the blood-red, forcing the hybrid change within the dwarven warrior. He is lycan through and through now, and he wails and howls, and rends and shreds, but these are demons and kin of Graz'zt, Ssech knows, and they are not so easily swayed by pain and blood.
The demons summon arcane arts to stun dwarf-wolf, and to rend Aether to near feathers.
The group moves in, but they are unsure of who's blood will fall next.
