Session 33: The Naked Truth of the Mores of Salt; Two New Faces: Animaesus and Tarrasques
General Summary
They sit around a camp fire, for six Days have gone by, and the children missed the story of how the group found these new friends and compatriots. Thus they sit and share stories for the group, Eros, Birdman and Stryke, they have spent time in the forests of the Musteli and the keen hospitality, and during this time they meet two new agents for their quest, that to find more mechanoid constructs, piloted creatures, that have long ago been buried or hidden under the history of Barur.
First, they find, trapped and locked in a cage for the Musteli people, a human 'pet', or at least a tool that they and the Melin who found them see as useful to their crafting and pursuits of life out in the forests. Eros and Stryke rescued, more or less, the young human Alexander Stormwind, and he becomes enamored, almost obsessed, with the ancient K'ash. He agrees to come with the group.
Second, they soon are followed by Dollie Kastow , a strange human adorned with magical swirls, bird shadows, and a gorgeously handsome suit. She follows them, lead by her patron, for there seems to be a strong connection to Stryke and his own divine intervention.
The group then discusses how Eros and Stryke left, in part, but mostly what they do next: find K'ash's siblings. They have a small lead from the Musteli people, knowing only the Cynas, about 100 miles east of the Smithy, could hope to know more about the hidden Testudine location, those seeming shepherds of the K'ash and his siblings, being one of the oldest living races on the planet.
They discuss, and Alexander suggests that he can teleport them right outside the Cynas city gates, and the group agrees, with Eros the most reluctant and will Dollie transporting Rhogar, Roxana, and herself into her extra-dimensional plane hidden within a bird cage mount upon her club-like staff. Alexander teleports them, and landing outside the cliffs of the Cynas city, K'ash begins to draw the eye of many of the city goers, so Eros hides him a few minutes walk away from the city's gaze.
They wait for her to complete this task, so they can to the city together. As they cross the bridge that grip across the great waterways and expanses, Rhogarr roars in glee, smiling back to his father, Stryke. The others also take in just how much water and green does exist so many hundreds of miles away from the City of Salt. They are soon greeted by the Cynas guards of the city, who only speak the native tongue. This forces Eros and Alexander to cast spells and abilities to understand this odd tongue, and even then, it takes some odd psychic persuasions before the Shiba leader of the squad finally sees Eros for the beauty she is. They are also seen for the power they are and what they possess when Alexander gifts them effigy of their god, only to crumble an hour later.
Nonetheless, they are lead to a mansion (at the cost of dealing with monsters to the north: a herd of Gorgon; metallic bull-like monstrosities) to rest for evening, but before bed Eros finds Roxana on a balcony that rests on the grass hills that he mansion was dug into as it was burgeoned over a century ago. Eros is worried about the haste of the travel, of the lack of fun, and Roxana tells her that this trek has obviously been blessed thus far, with so many friends and new allies to aid them. And, surely, we can slow down, surely they can.
Meanwhile, Stryke goes to find Shallowbutter, and she is found repairing her armor, standing new naked in her room. He asks her to go out with him, and she agrees. They first go to get her some new clothes, a black dress of the finest great spider silks, able to hide her in darkness. Then they drink, promising a fight or a duel during this night at some point, but the drinking gets out of control, Shallowbutter wanting to compete with the much larger Stryke amongst dwarven ale. She fails, and he has to carry her back to the rented mansion.
The next morning, Eros awakes early, and while naked, which makes Alexander uncomfortable, prepares morning breakfast with what little remains in the kitchen of this mansion from the night before. Stryke goes to retrieve the new dress for Shallowbutter while she tries to quell her hangover with more sleep.
Afterward, they travel at a moderate pace about 10 miles north of the city, after find some information the night before from locals and the fears of this adamantine bison. This takes about 4 hours, and then they wait for Eros to cast clairvoyance to see the hundreds of feet off, near a cliff, where they see the gorgons resting. She sees there are four of them, and one much larger than the other three, and the fourth, a female, pregnant? They procreate? This should not happen, these monstrosities are born of the violent interruptions of Barur and the weave caused by the fall and desecration of the tarrasque, or so most scholars believe... but has there ever been proof?
They are smelt by the steers are guard before they can investigate more, and the metal monsters gather the larger father to aid them, charging toward the foreign smells and sounds.
