Session 54: The Bloom of Life: Scallywags

General Summary

The travel west, to the Dwarves, in hopes of allies, as they hear guns blaze and canons roar behind the, east and then north. And, as they near the threshold, they are able to see a few spectacles from the center of the bloom, but also a war galleon of the Faces following feverishly behind them. However, with more canonfire coming from the north, the Galleon starts to verge back toward that area, presumably because there are others of their faction that needed aid.
During this time, the Scallywags talk with Dosgratin, and he knows the old Semaphore of the dwarven sailors, and he is able to communicate with flags and a dance of sorts to the incoming dwarven vessel of the Call's allegiance and support to them, and a need for parlay and regrouping. They are both students of the sea, these vessels, and as pirates of similar ventures, perhaps teaming up against the incoming vessels may not seem so bad. They maneuver in such a way to allow them to pass by the main three dwarven ships, while they cover the Call's flank, and then to regroup and fire upon the following vessel, the war galleon from the Faces, if need be. However, the Galleon has turned by this point, and therefore, the main dwarven ship follows alongside the Call, and the two crews eventually tie-off for a parlay. They agree to go aboard the dwarven vessel, and they are greeted by a middle aged dwarf, blonde-white hair, a mage of the sea, with a resplendent cloak and other attire. Regnur Aldar, he introduced himself, as a private helmsdwarf, and captain of the sea, with patrons and benefactos, many from dwarven port, but still someone who makes his own claims upon the choices of the Grey Coasts.
The group comes with Dosgratin, Roland, Brimstone, Aikhon, and Ilknar, and the dwarf captain Regnur is generally surprised by the make up of this group, so diverse, and he even seems to recognize Ilknar, the son of the Storm King, it is quite obvious, but he does not draw too much attention to it; he would rather discuss the claims and aims of this new fleet they are forming, with the Call as the unique and elite, but his ships making up the brunt force to the hovering war ship that the Call has become. Yet, the first need to undestand more of the small war happeing to the north east of them, for they all hear the canon fire still, the Faces versus some unknown force, but even the dragonborn, Aikhon his keen senses most to attuned to even his own senses and beyond, he can hear lingering on the waves of the wind, cries and screams of sailors, the Faces' forces faulter. Thus, the dwarves and the Crew of the Call decide the one of the smaller dwarven vessels with attempt a scouting mission just around the bend of the The Silver Bloom, the Silver Joy and Island . It is agreed, and a few of the Scallwags join with the dwarves before the depart from the Call; these pirates join together in solidarity to witness a new battle, new death, but also an understanding of their next step, which is most important.
The scouting boat sets off, and after only fifteen or so minutes of tense silence on their boat, with the winds still carrying the canons and screams of these sails, strangers yes, foes maybe, but living yesterday and dying today most certainly.
They see the Kraken engaged and entangling the smallest sea vessel of the Faces fleet; a pursuer, captained by one of the great privateers of the King, Valentha Dovah. Aikhon is most certain it is her, for the ship is what comes for the stories of her sea vessel, and he even sees the diverse dragonborn and other crew, and at the helm, the white scales, sheened with silver, still fighting. Two more canons fire into the beast, and it releases Valentha's ship, and the Kraken dives again to avoid the blasts of the Faces of the Kings' Long Lances. Yet, even beyond this battle, another rages, with one other Faces' ship fending off three other vessels from an incoming fleet; so much smoke permeats around, the canons have unleashed from all sides, shrapnel and fire, blood and water.
They decide to turn away, but not before Aikhon messages his sister; Valentha, live. He wishes, and she can only say Why? How? Her mind then drifts away to the fight she must now win to do just that: survive.
Once they reconvene, and they attempt to block the canons and other noises away from them, they again plan for what comes next, their goal of adventure, exploration, answers to the Storm King's Call, the Sons of Dovah's family's freedom, the Sea free of Tyranny and Destiny. They decide to avoid the larger tangent and tentacles of The Silver Bloom, the Silver Joy and Island , that Ilknar will cast a water walking ritual, unlocking his powers as the Storm King's heir, and thus this small squad will sneak past, not having to worry about the Call being stuck, the ships being lost, and simply scouting ahead to understand what this fall star even is about at all.
Gyc, Teyos, Nethpione, G, Ilknar, Mila, Valia, Roland, and Aikhon all volunteer to go on this walk. They jump to the water, and like a slippery granite floor, they run and sneak into the Bloom's center; at this the agreed with the dwarves to continue the mining into the walls of the Bloom's structure, maybe to bypass the odd magics and other entwining circumstances that may occur within this fall Star.
However, the skill of stealth is all that is needed at first to go towards the center, and at first the find two small Scion built ships, other allied pirates her to find aim and plunder from this Star; however, they only patrol the waters, and they never go too close to the center entrance. Thus, they elect to sneak past, and they do so with easy, only to be found with the minds being warped upon entering the center folds.
They see beneath them as the water shift to the images, stories, and portals into other dimensions and existences, other possibilites and forgotten about oddities. It warps a few of the minds, and they soon realize they are not alone. From the first parts of these movements with the dwarves, they all saw a spinning light structure in the center of the Bloom, and most assumed that was all it was. Yet, now they can tell it to be some draconic creature, born of the dark and the most keenly the light of the night sky: a star most keenly. And, behind it, a ship sails, pushed by a wind that does not exist in this central dome structure of The Silver Bloom, the Silver Joy and Island .This ship is made of plants and other flora, but not all this foliage comes from Barur, but seemingly from these other planes shown beneath them in those flashes as they entered the Bloom's grace. Soon, a creature, a humanoid of sorts, floats from the deck of this living boat, and it speaks in Sylvan to the bright lit shepherd, this dragon that comes to also greet the Bloom's center, The Fallen Star.
She is clearly a fey, some ancient Eladrin, and she speaks and acts naively, but her essence and being is of something much older. They ask her of her origin and purpose, and she speaks in riddles to a point, yet Saerah cannot understand the time and place of her being in the same linear sense as the others, and even she sees Valia's mask when adorned by the sea elf as but a visage of her lost father; she also recognizes Ilknar, sees him but does not see him as his father, and she can identify each type, each races and species, all but Roland; she has no knowledge of humans. She has come to bring the bloom, or to let it ignite the lands, but she has fallen from and outside of time, and now the trio use this primordial essence to manipulate their own aims. She asks the Scallywags to assist, and they do, but first they must gain more understanding, so they join Saerah on her ship as their water walking begins to fail.
