Taking Care of Yourself? The Days before Blood and Festival: Session 8: Animaesus and Tarrasques: The 4 Ways
General Summary
Cotton finds herself on the 5th Day of Light outside the house of Fidreo the alchemist of the Fifth House. He is already engaged with drow in conversation for some job related to necromancy. She will be remembered by the drow lady, and Fidreo asks for her silence about these interactions with the 12th House. He pays for her silence with the price of knowledge of alchemy and necromancy but from a scientific rather than magical perspective. Cotton then engages in a week of her own carousing and contact making within the 12th and 4th house.
When she reconvenes with the group on the 14th of Light, she finds them chasing Altopar and covered in more blood. Here Eros is warning Binder Lords through magic of attempts at her life, and Eros also asks of Cotton's well being--is she really taking care of herself. Additionally, Eros sends word to Sayrulion about her own well being, wanting simply to check in with her father.
We then continue with Birdman and Stryke who chase after the 10th House mage Altopar . Crowds of the city blockade their advance, and another ambush of thugs ignites to their own demise, but still Altopar escapes. Before more death follows them, the Kenku and Melin agree to return to their apartment with Cotton and Eros.
Once there, the find Terry trading for body parts, Eros comforting friends, and Telearia returning to the city; she asks for a debrief of the last week, and the party happily agrees, but they wish to go inside, away from the so many eyes of the city. During this dinner, Cotton reveals the connection with the 5th House and the 12th House, and Eros retells the debauchery of Altopar. This leads Telearia to make an abrupt decision to leave for the lands to the south of the city in search of real heroes, for the The 4 Ways of Disaster decide against helping her end the tarrasque and gain the 13 Words of Power of the Beast.
The next day, the 15th of Light, second Boccob's of the year 697, the group goes to work. Stryke finds work within the 6th house and their strong connections to the Godbutchers, Eros engages with drow meetings of high and hidden renown as well as getting an outfit to match this newfound patron (she also arranges a night with Wendy and Roxana), Birdman finds Aengiliiz Altopar 's trail by way of the sorcerer's of the 9th house, and Cotton makes some easy money by way of Eros' costume and fashion prowess and and stealthy moves.
