A mist has befallen the village and indeed, seemingly the entire country.....food is scarce and hard to come by..... I don't believe we will last through the winter

The rest of the page is soaked in dried blood and the writing is faded unable to be read

Things have not improved and we have started needing to ration....if this famine does not ease soon we will need to resort to the unthinkable
