The Parable

The Parable is a religious text that serves as the foundational creation myth of Volorisma. It describes nine days, in which Lombra, the Dreamer of All Dreams, brings to the world nine separate Divinities, each of which holds dominion over different areas of contrast, such as the difference between light and dark, or the difference between up and down. These Nine Days of Creation come to an abrupt end with the accidental conception of the Profanity, a distinction of good and bad hidden within the gap between life and death. With this Profanity came the ancient being known as the Night, and with it a Night of All Nightmares, where all of creation was nearly destroyed.

The Parable

"Before the beginning, which came before the end, All creation was with infinite nothingness suffus’d, Whereupon one sleeping God did open Her eyes and begin to dream."
"And so it was with holy cast of Her threefold gaze that Divinity was found, For just as the one within Her gaze shone bright and golden, the one without Her gaze was made blackn’d and dull, Though neither of the two could be the lovelier, so it was that each was nonetheless without equal made, Thus did mark the First of the Divinities."
"And at the ends of Her threefold gaze, the Goddess did perceive divinity again, For as the one saw Her from up on high, so too did it stand across from the one who saw Her from below, So was each made equal in stature and dominion, Yet separated still by the Horizon all-consuming, Thus did mark the Second of the Divinities."
