Personal history
Stubby Sally (a nickname she jokingly gave herself after her second leg had to be amputated) is seen as the ‘mama bear’ of the Railyard. Her somewhat intimidating appearance and gruff voice (the result of years of chain smoking) allow her to scare away any rookie cops that step foot in the Railyard in search of thieves or runaways.
Her ‘crazed’ demeanour is only reserved for those she considers a threat to the more peaceful side of life in the Railyard, and before she became wheelchair bound, Sally could frequently be found playing football with the children there.
Sally struggles with her mental health, causing her to sometimes retreat from the community on particularly bad days. One day, during one such episode, Sally heard an odd scratching noise right outside her railcar. Searching for the source of the sound, she opened the door to a bizarrely large chicken, the creature eagerly clucking at her. The chicken hopped into her lap, and hasn’t left her side since. Sally finds great comfort in the chicken’s presence, and it’s helped her manage her bad days much more efficiently.
Education
Though she wasn’t particularly interested in academics and dropped out of school just before graduation, Sally is an intelligent woman, with a specific knack for languages.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Sally is particularly proud of the ‘Winter Warmers’ tradition that she set up within the Railyard. Each year, donated clothes, blankets, and other items for the colder months are piled in the centre of the Railyard, serving to reassure people that there’s enough stock to be distributed fairly amongst the community. The tradition continued to grow throughout the years, with some people leaving unused blankets just outside their railcars for others to use as needed.
Personality Characteristics
Likes & Dislikes
Sally has a strong love for her community, doing whatever she can to make the Railyard a nicer place to live.
She has a strong dislike for people who prey on the weak and vulnerable, which has caused her to butt heads with these people on multiple occasions.
Social
Family Ties
Aside from The Chicken, Sally considers her fellow Railyard Roaches as her family, having adopted the role of ‘mama bear’ in the community. To those who know her, she is seen as ‘firm but fair’, unafraid to meddle in people’s business when she believes someone requires her help.
She is much more gentle with the children of the Railyard, hoping to help them get as normal an upbringing as their circumstances will allow for.
