Gnome

Gnomes are a mischievous folk. Some say that Gnomes are the other side of the coin from the loveable Halflings. Gnomes are incredibly intelligent and crafty. Their colonies live underground in dense forests and use magic to shield themselves from unwanted visitors. However, most Gnomes live freely in the world at large and integrate successfuly with other species if they so wish. Due to their intelligence, some older folks who are wanting to learn more about the world will seek out a Gnome to ask for answers to life's deep questions. If the Gnome takes a liking to the seeker, they will impart their wisdom for a fair price. However, if they feel threatened or disrespected the Gnome will ask a hefty price for their response and it may or may not be true.

Gnomes are also incredible with machines and love to tinker and invent things. Their mechanizations rival that of the Mountain Dwarves. Most of the time Gnomes are in competition with the Dwarves, but occasionally some Gnomes have gone to live under the mountains to partner with the Dwarves and create machines of great significance.
