Brightcliffe Islands

Brightcliffe is a series of high, arid plateaus made of red sandstone. High in the air above the center of the largest island, there is a narrow vent into the elemental plane of air which constantly blasts wind downwards onto the flat-topped island. This incessant gust has eroded some of the neighboring islands down into sharp peaks, but the central island remains stalwart. 

Several groups live on these islands, primarily the Aarakocra of Bronzefell and Cavecliffe who guard the surrounding area against incursions from the elemental plane. Their warrior culture values the constant downdraft from the planar vent, as they use it in their coming-of-age rituals and their trials to determine the leaders of their tribe.

Nearby in Flightfound, a small settlement of Kenku delight in their discovery of artificial modes of flight. Their prototypical wooden gliders were instrumental in the development of the airships and personal aeroplanes used today.
