Mylmanas (miell-MAN-ahs)

The Desert Elves of The Hissing Wastes have built a beautiful city of glass, sandstone, and cool white adobe here at the edge of the oasis known as The Waters of Memory. Common wisdom holds that you can buy anything in Mylmanas if you have the coin. The Desert Elves say that the city has no memory; the oasis collects secrets, and it keeps its own council. The elves come and go freely across the dunes, naturally adapted to the heat and the merciless sun. Everyone else closely follows the well-maintained and shaded roads if they want to go anywhere other than this, the glittering jewel of desert elf culture.
Mylmanas has a darker side, spoken of in whispers in the form of campfire tales and horror stories across the Imperium. Old rumors speak of killers, completely untraceable and impossible to guard against, raised as ghosts in the streets of the city. These Nameless, for such is their title and only recallable designation, are the perfect weapon in the internecine wars of influence and assassination waged by the Desert Elf tribes over access to the various hidden springs buried beneath the black sands of the Hissing Wastes. When the Imperium conquered Eribax, the elves claimed they stopped creating Nameless. However, there are whispers that the practice continues in secret, and that one day there will rise an army without memory from the depths of the desert, ready to fling off the chains of Imperial dominion.   More cheerfully, the Nameless feature in a great many popular tales, ranging from torrid romantic drama to light-hearted comedy. They are most common in period-pieces about the pre-Imperial desert. The Desert Elves strenuously protest the type-casting of their race as Nameless assassins in many shows and movies, and generally are offended by the stereotype.
